New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird February 08, 2005, 09:19:43 PM I know the new Cougars used the same bolt pattern as the Fox T-Bird/Cougar. I was always under the assumption that the offset was way off, though, and that the hub hole was too small. Apparently I was wrong. I found this while scouting ebay in the vain hope that somebody in Canada would have some goodies. I think those wheels look HOT on that car! Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #1 – February 08, 2005, 09:27:18 PM ok now are those the 9 inch or 10 inch drums on the rear also what is the brake size in frount? Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #2 – February 08, 2005, 09:39:28 PM The rear drums are finned, so they're the 9 inch. the fronot brakes should be 10", since the car in the pic isn't an 87-88 TC (the only Fox t-Bird to get 11" brakes) Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #3 – February 08, 2005, 10:20:02 PM im shocked that they fit on there. cuz i was told that no frount wheel drive car rims would fit the rwd Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #4 – February 08, 2005, 10:25:24 PM The Fox platform was started as a front drive or rear drive platform design. That is why it has a bolt on K member and front struts. Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #5 – February 08, 2005, 10:41:13 PM How about trying to make one AWD, "Subaru STI killer" maybe. Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #6 – February 08, 2005, 11:39:34 PM there was never a FWD fox, so i doubt that theory is true, and the fox wasnt the only RWD to have front struts Quote Selected

Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #8 – February 08, 2005, 11:44:39 PM I wonder if the wheels on my moms focus fit? Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #9 – February 08, 2005, 11:46:35 PM Most likely. Same think that is on the cougar. Only the 16 are only 6.5 in wide instead of 7 that is on the cougar. Quote Selected

Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #11 – February 09, 2005, 12:30:35 AM I thinkin these wheels might look good on my cougar. I already have a set of ponies but I think I might put the focus wheels on so I can take a picture and see what it looks like. Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #12 – February 09, 2005, 02:03:52 AM Wasent there a front wheel drive contenetal on the fox platform? maybe not I dont remember. I know that the front wheel drive escort rims dont fit(about 1994). The bolt pattern was to small and the middle hole wasent big enough. Also I thought that the escorts shared a bolt pattern with the new front wheel drive cars? Quote Selected
Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #13 – February 09, 2005, 02:13:45 AM Quotethere was never a FWD fox, so i doubt that theory is true, and the fox wasnt the only RWD to have front struts i had a 92 ford tempo GLS. 2 door, 5 speed 3.0 V6. that little car screwed. stayed with my buddies 89 SHO untill about 50 or 60. anyway...what im getting at is it was similar in size and shape of the fox mustang. i doubt they were fox platforms but i bet they were close. more imortantly there was an AWD version. that would be kind of pissah to have an AWD tbird for the winter. and there is a supercharger kit for that engine. there is also a guy that swapped a 92 SHO engine into a tempo. i know it wouldnt work but it would be sweet. Re: New edge Cougar wheels on a Fox T-Bird Reply #14 – February 09, 2005, 06:11:16 AM The Tempo is completely different than the Fox (It's closer to the Escort). Those V6, 5-speed Tempos did work good though... Quote Selected
