I did it again... June 24, 2007, 01:20:33 AM Blew up another intercooler on my way to the track today:And due to this I decided to uh coochfoot it around the track today and got knocked out right away. Yeah, it's by a truck, but the guy in the truck is also a pit manager there and I'm sure has probably driven the track a bunch of times. I've never driven an oval and the turbo coupe has been far from nice lately so I used it as a learning experience, didn't wanna blow up twice in 1 day. So anyway, here's me getting my butt whooped by a truck in an oval http://media.putfile.com/062407Bird Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #1 – June 24, 2007, 03:44:06 AM Looks like someone needs a Blow off Valve. Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #2 – June 24, 2007, 03:49:35 AM Was he calling it a "pickamatruck"??? Lol silly announcer. Anyhow, that's cool that you have an oval track, I'm not sure if we do or not. Must of been fun doing even if you did win though. Quote Selected

I did it again... Reply #4 – June 24, 2007, 11:00:14 AM I’m curious to hear what your plan is to solve that Crystal. Obviously ya can’t just keep throwing new intercoolers in there.I have never dealt with a turbo before but I noticed right away the same side is coming apart; my first thought was to strap it somehow. But that was before I read the other two guys suggestions..Blow off ValveAndFully Welded Both sound like possibilities, but a valve sounds like a loss of potential power? p.s. Then again, maybe this just goes to show ya that Daboss351 was right!Lol, ok that was wrong, sorry but I really crack me up sometimes! Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #5 – June 24, 2007, 11:43:29 AM that can be repaired obviously. It came apart where it was assmebled.Id torch and solder it after i cleaned up the mating surfaces. you might consider getting it brazed or do that yourself with some poweder flux and some thin brass rods.solder might do but fixing it probably would be better cause whoever does the fix will see the weak link and do it up better.thats a lot of presure nonetheless. I did it again... Reply #6 – June 24, 2007, 11:48:38 AM I'm sure a fully welded setup wouldn't be a problem for Crystal.:D Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #7 – June 24, 2007, 12:50:26 PM Yeah... if by any chance you dont...oh i dunno, FEEL like messing with it, I could take it off your hands, if youd like :) Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #8 – June 24, 2007, 12:54:56 PM what kind of intercooler are you running, and is that a front mount set up? yea it broke but you had fun right? thats all that mattersand jim just drop it Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #9 – June 24, 2007, 01:39:30 PM That is an 80's Ford Aftermarket FMIC setup. They're siliconed together and then riveted. The one I blew up yesterday ripped the rivets clean through the sides of the aluminum actually. I think I'm going to clean that one up and TIG the whole thing together to see what happens. The core itself seems a bit too delicate to be running a torch right next to it to braze it. Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #10 – June 24, 2007, 01:57:24 PM Go with a bypass valve rather than a blow-off valve.Looks like you're having fun with it, at least. Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #11 – June 24, 2007, 03:02:43 PM BPV FTW!!! I have a Forge BPV and I have very minor driveability issues. It's not quiet either. Especially at higher boost levels. How much boost where your running? And to think I almost paid a nice sum of money for one of those setups. Quote Selected
I did it again... Reply #12 – June 24, 2007, 06:46:13 PM bpv or bov, it doesn't matter. My bailey bov sounds schweet and I don't have any issues. Quote Selected

I did it again... Reply #14 – June 24, 2007, 11:56:09 PM You're going to have to explain this one to me. I'm dumping metered air (maf) to the atmosphere with no issues. Quote Selected
