Trans Question

When a transmission "burns up" because the T.V. cable was not attached, what would need to be replaced? Will a Master Overhaul kit be required? Don't know much about transmissions...

I'm not an AOD expert, but I believe the TV cable regulates fluid pressure, and when it is disconnected the pressure goes way down. With the low pressure the clutches and bands don't "clamp" tight enough and they slip, causing them to wear out, or "burn up". So, while I'm pulling this out of my ass, at least it's a somewhat educated ass-pulling: The clutches and bands burn up.

Carmen is correct with his ass pullin' :hick: (Just don't sniff the answer)...:rollin: :rollin: :rollin:

Mainly it's the direct clutch(for 3rd gear) and the O/D band that gets toasted...

Usualy it get the o.d. band. Sometimes the reverse drum (very rarely). But a master kit as long as it comes with bands should do it.

Master overhaul will do it, & ALWAYS put in a new or refurbished torque converter at over haul-too many good reasons why to list. And yes it's the internal friction materials that "burn up". Are you considering doing the rebuild yourself?
