Exactly, in fact it would be a better idea to keep the eclipse and try to find a broken VR4 and swap the engine and trans into the eclipse .

True story.  I've always loved the looks of them though.

Beat one that had 50-trims swapped onto it.  My car is only good for mid 13's.

Maybe the guy didn't do something right, but by 2nd I was 2 cars on him and he never caught up.  Or he was BS'ing about the turbos.

I have however seen some that are really fast, but probably had a lot of work done to them.

Nice choice. Those rigs are wicked. Heavy, but set up well enough that it doesn't matter.

thus, I am not very concerned with how fast it is.

and actually it is fast even though it is heavy.

that guy was either BSing or sucked at driving b/c the specs for the VR4 are

As quoted from the July 1995, Vol 47, No. 7 issue of Motor Trend:
[NOTE: 1995 3000GT VR-4 tested]
Horsepower, hp @ rpm, SAE net: 320 @ 6000
Torque, lb-ft @rpm, SAE net: 315 @ 2500
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Acceleration, 0-60 mph, sec: 5.4
Standing quarter mile, sec/mph: 13.5/101.6
Braking, 60-0, feet: 118
Handling, lateral acceleration, g: 0.89
Slalom, 600-ft, mph: 68.9

http://www.3000gtvr4.com/pages/shootout.html

and I don't care who you are, if you don't call that fast for a stock car that I am buying for 17k with only 58k miles you are crazy!

and the car may be heavy, but it handles very well.

4 wheel drive, steering, and suspension.

one more thing.

the 3000GT engine wont fit in the eclipse because it faces the other way.

plus if it could it would cost more than its worth b/c I would have to change the eclipse to AWD

Don't be too disappointed when the 3000GT breaks, either...cuz it'll happen.
