Clear bumper lights? May 16, 2007, 12:41:12 AM What years came with the clear bumper lights? I thought that it was 83 but while washing my 84 I found that the bumper lights say 83 on them. Are the clear ones from something older. Like say the Box birds or some other ford product? I know I've plenty of 83's with them but I'm sure that ford put them on something else. Does anyone know? Clear bumper lights? Reply #1 – May 16, 2007, 01:03:43 AM I think the story is... only some of the '83's came with 'em. The plastic mold is probably the same between clears & ambers, so the 'casting' number might just be the same as the earlier clears. I'm pretty sure the firewall on my car has an E3 part number, too. Clear bumper lights? Reply #7 – May 16, 2007, 09:15:29 AM All 1983's and some early 1984's had clear, at least in the U.S.A. The part numbers for the amber lenses are for 1984, so any 1985-86 with clears had them purposely installed somewhere along the line. Most 1984's had amber. The amber p/n superceded the clear one. Clear bumper lights? Reply #8 – May 16, 2007, 09:55:57 AM So what you are saying is find a 83 with them in the junkyard. Damm is there anything else that might have used the same lights? I wonder if one of the Big truck lights from Peterson might work in that bumper spot. Things that make you go hummmmm! Quote Selected
Clear bumper lights? Reply #9 – May 16, 2007, 10:06:30 AM I don't think any other Ford used that part.Actually I'd thought about maybe putting aftermarket clear Chevy S-10 (the rounded trucks, made right before the Colorado) markers in the convertible. Never got a chance to do it...I don't know if the angles would be right either, but size-wise they're close to ours. Quote Selected

Clear bumper lights? Reply #12 – May 18, 2007, 11:47:07 PM I was messing around on a smoke break at work and took a clear Peterson 426 Clear Kinda oval shaped backup light. It Looked like it would fit inside the bumper. I didn't have time to take things apart. It did look like we would have a very small gap in the very corners of the Rectagle in the bumper cover. I'm sure we would have to make a mounting braket to make them work. Besides that they are a sealed unit with only a one element bulb inside. It is also made to mount in a rubber groumet" It is a light from a Big rig trailer." I didn't have time to look into the book to see what they had that I could order. Quote Selected
