Jalopnik Love :) March 21, 2007, 03:29:19 PM Okay, they were a decade off from our cars...but still, it's in the family:http://jalopnik.com/cars/retro/forgotten-mercury-of-the-day-1977-cougar-245451.phpIt's "Forgotten Mercury" week this week. Check out the LN7 review:http://jalopnik.com/cars/retro/forgotten-mercury-of-the-day-1982-ln7-245814.php"looks like they already tried to steal the wheels" :rotf:Hoonage!!! Quote Selected
Jalopnik Love :) Reply #1 – March 21, 2007, 03:48:32 PM I LOVED my EXP. I'm *still* trying to get it back. Funky 80's Ford to the MAX on that little bugger. Whole thing weighed less then the aluminum topper on my truck! Not to mention 45 mpg!!! Quote Selected

Jalopnik Love :) Reply #3 – March 21, 2007, 05:31:17 PM I'd like to have a mid 80's turbo EXP - the "other" Ford Turbo Coupe... Would make a nice little runabout for my twice weekly 80 mile round trip into town... Quote Selected

Jalopnik Love :) Reply #5 – March 21, 2007, 11:53:56 PM So that's what is in a junkyard near me, a LN7! Well, I'm not sure if it's still there anymore, that was a few years ago, but might be there yet. I had always wondered what it was, since I seen the mercury emblem on the front, I just thought it was some odd car. I'll have to see if it's still there and what condition it's in now, thank you Eric, you have helped me figure out what it is. Quote Selected

Jalopnik Love :) Reply #8 – March 22, 2007, 11:01:56 AM I kinda liked those EXP's from the early '80s. They just needed some more power and crisper handling. Nothing that couldn't be fixed.Bryan Quote Selected
Jalopnik Love :) Reply #9 – March 22, 2007, 11:34:03 AM Like shoving an LS2 in the nose and tubbing the rear with a narrowed 9"? 'Cause that's what I want to do to my old one! :hick: Quote Selected

'Cause that's what I want to do to my old one! :hick:Well that would get it going all right! (Though I suspect the last 2 cylinders would be in the dash.) Might make it a touch nose heavy for the corners though. :D (Why do images of that tank powered Rover keep poping in my head here?)Bryan Quote Selected
Jalopnik Love :) Reply #11 – March 22, 2007, 01:59:22 PM LS2's are all-aluminum. Weighs less then an aluminum-head 2.3T at that! As you see, I've thought about this one for awhile... Quote Selected
