Money has no real value anymore.  It's all fake.  You're being lied to.

this is mostly off-topic, but i think it's funny we use a desimal system for our money, which dominates the world pretty much... but we still measure distance in inches, feet, and miles.

anyway, this could be debated, all i've read so far are good points saying that inflation does exist.  gas to me is the biggest show and tell of inflation.  its interesting for someone to say it doesnt exist.

Do the math that Tbird232ci explained. What was a gallon of gas in the 60's now multiply that by the difference in the min wage of then and today.

this happens to be the closest among you all to the truth,,,but Shawn probably took the prize by hitting in right on.

here is the deal (not my point of view but just plain fact)

please dont get board, read all the below and i welcome your new found conclusion:D

fastbackward to the year 1929 and arm yourself with one $20 gold piece.  With this coin in the year 1929 can you get all the below services and still have change? (remember, your are in the year 1929)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fill up your modle T ford with gas
get the wife an inexpensive dress
get yourself a new shirt
get a shave/haircut
pay a baby sitter to watch the kids for the evening
take wife to dinner
if you feelin lucky, get an inexpensive hotel room for the night?

Answer,,,YES and all these service you get and still have some change left over.

Fastforward to jan 30, 2007
you find a 20 dallar gold piece (dont ask how, just accept the fact you did).
In 1934, congress signed into law that it is illegal to use gold as coin currency ect so you cant just go spend it.  Congress makes mention that it is illegal to d such gold and everyone across the nation was to turn in all gold coins or be fined and put in jail.  In effect , you were not allowed to d gold so that the goverment could.  At best you would make a million by auction but that would deviate from my point here.,,so,,,,, At worse case you are allowed to take said coin to any bank and get the paper equivilent of todays market value of one troy ounce of gold!!!
So,, the bank looks up the current rate for gold today and says to you, "looks like today gold closed at about $642 an ounce".

They hand you 642 dollars.

with $642 ,can you get all the below services and still have change?
fill up your T bird with gas
get the wife an inexpensive dress
get yourself a new shirt
get a shave/haircut
pay a baby sitter to watch the kids for the evening
take wife to dinner
if you feelin lucky, get an inexpensive hotel room for the night?

Answer,,,YES and all these service you get and still have some change left over.

Nothing changed,, you still get the same amount of services for the same amount of gold,, thats why they dont let us have gold anymore cause inflation needed to be INVENTED.  It happend in1934, again in 1964 with silver, again in 1983 ending copper pennies and again i think in 2001 with nickle.

gets you thinking , doesnt it?

Conclusion,, Inflation if Faux, have a good day:D

So because it was "invented" it doesn't exist? Just askin', because somebody invented the laptop sitting on my chest...

i knew this would be my one problem:beatyoass: :hick:
but still, i hope i made sense.  It's one of the most cheapest tricks ever performed.
in reality, if you did happen across a few 20 dollar gold pieces,,, you would be totally immune to INFLATION, so, it would have no effect on you.  Inflation would be a transparent blip on the radar in your world thus making you able to thrive and afford things of today just as you would in yesteryear.

I guess its up to you to decide.

in effect, i think the proof is in the pudding.

Linkey

I Read this and exactly something like the silver penny example happened here in the decade of 90`s. The Mexican governement did some coins; 5, 10 cts, 50cts, 1 peso, 2 pesos, 5 pesos, 10 pesos , 20 pesos and 50 pesos. The coins from 5 cts to 5 pesos were (and still are) made from niquel and other cheap steel. But fpr the 10 pesos to 50 pesos these were in two pieces. One inner circle, of silver, and the outer ring was niquel. Well, that was only in 1993. Now they are made from other material. But well, if you find a regular coin, its worth less than a U.s Dollar, but if you find a 10 pesos coin with silver, its worth like 3 dollars ! left alone the stranger examples of 20 and 50 pesos, they were bigger and heavier !!!

i was always taught that the government controlled inflation and the market by either producing more money, or destroying money.  like say there were 500,000 dollars in circulation.  then they cut it in half and there was only 250,000 dollars in circulation.  this would cause the monitary value of the dollar rise 50%, thus causing the oppsite of inflation.  or something like that.  im a mechanic, not a economist.
