Granted, my experiences are based on a peg-leg RWD car, I never got a chance to try out the T-L rear in the snow.

Don't worry you would have ended up in a ditch even sooner. I layed the Cougar in one on the interstate last year then backed it out and drove home.

I agree for the FWD>RWD in snow. But I blew the tempo up so I get to drive the new bird in the snow.

The only time in the 2 years that I had my Bird, I only once got it stuck  so bad that I couldn't get it get it out. Even then it was only because mother nature thought it would be funny to melt the ice just enough to sink the tires then refreeze to trap them. Beyond that I was always able to keep the car in check in the snow.

You know... you just have to move somewhere that you'll never see snow again!

That's my solution at least.

FWD may be better than RWD in the snow, but considering that there are about 360 days without snow and 5 days with (I mean snow on the actual roads, not snow on the lawns, etc) it's a pretty bad tradeoff (if that's the only reason you could come up with for FWD). If I were gonna buy a small FWD car it'd be for fuel economy and passenger room, not traction (and fuel economy only because most fuel efficient cars happen to be FWD).

Truth be told, for 98% of drivers (including most of us most of the time) it doesn't really matter which wheels are driving the car. It might matter to us on a psychological level, but not on a practical one, at least until you put the car on a track (in favour of RWD) or in snow (in favour of FWD).

And for those of you who say you can drift in a RWD car - try reefing the handbrake and mashing the gas in a FWD car some time. It gets pretty fun, especially in the snow :hick:

Ifixyawata, I learned a while ago that any car can be welcome on a Ford board, so long as it's not a bowtie. ;)

FWD is an immediate fail in my book. Bowtie or otherwise.

BTW: Trick to driving in snow? Remember snow and ice are slippery and adjust accordingly. I don't care if you have four-wheel drive, doing 75 an a snow covered highway is STUPID.

Hell, I thought my '90 Mustang 2.3 with a peg-leg rear went through the snow as good as or better than my '94 Tempo does...

Nevermind it all.  RWD > FWD in all ways.

I love my car but I'd rather drive FWD in the snow, I guess that's just how I am.  Say all you want, but that's my preference.  Sure, with good tires and cautious driving there's no reason you couldn't get around all winter on RWD.  Hell, I did it for three years.

Yea... for me being 20 years old the supercharge one would been 390 per month just for insurance. Plus an extra 3k to the sticker price. It was out of my reach and I couldn't afford the payment plus an insane insurance payment.

F consumer reports they are gay. Car TV ranked the cobalt #3 on sport compacts in all aspects. VW GTI 1st, i dont remember what was second. But it doesnt matter.

Another reason why I purchased this SS is because after searching online at other car clubs and such for cars, cobalts ss are the only cars that I dont see being riced out to the max. They all are mostly kept the way they come. Which is cool with me.

Eric, your welcome bud for the economy boost.

Yes, it has the 7 speaker Pioneer system in it. The subwoofer in the back that came factory hits amazing! I love how the cd player plays Mp3s, it automatically sorts ID3 tags when you insert an Mp3 file format cd, reorders the whole cd so that it plays by artist and not what order the cd was burnt in. Plus has inputs for IPODs or any mp3 player just to plug right in.

I test drove the 2.0 supercharged SS and to be honest with you, my 2.4 felt just as peppy. It was kinda close for some odd reason. The cheaper cost and cheaper insurance is what bought me on it. Plus GM's warrenty is out of this world. Yes its a chevy but hey I'll still and always will have a special place in my heart for Ford's.

As for the wheel gap, yes.. something needs to be done. Its the only drawback that I dont like about it so far. The car rides really really high when you sit next to other cars on the road, and judging by it's wheel gap. Coils are the first thing I'm doing when I get the extra money.

Thanks guys for all the comments, I'm glad that I wont be disliked or anything now for owning anything non-ford. Haha good thing we aren't like those mustang clubs. haha

Cool Steve, congrats on the purchase.

I really like the Cobalts as well as the G5s. If they were out when I was looking for a car, I may have brought one home instead of the Tib.

Oh and as far as a foreign car not supporting the economy, yes my Tib was made in Korea but now their making the Sonata in the U.S. so Hyundai is doing it's part for the U.S. :shakeass:

It's good to see everyone is getting a nice Daily Driver! Now hopefully all of us will have time to work on our Cats/Birds

btw about insurance, insurance with my current company is crazy. I checked out insurance with Allstate and will be getting it. only $600 every 6 months. As opposed to $1500. -__-

the Eclipse really jumped my insurance by like a grand with my current company.
