351c? Reply #4 – November 07, 2006, 08:53:39 AM The Clevelands fit, but since a true Cleveland hasn't been mfg in the States since '74, are a rather obscure engine these days(OK the legend lives on... I'll stick to the Windsor family thank you)... The 351M/400 is just as big and heavy as a 429/460 so why bother??? Exaust would be the tough part, dunno if anyone makes headers for such a swap... I wouldn't even consider iron manifolds...There are lots of swap parts for the 385 series(429/460), but unless the engine is built with good Hi Po parts, a modded 5.0 will out run one... 351c? Reply #5 – November 07, 2006, 10:07:51 AM There used to be a member on here who actually modified a carbed intake to EFI and put it on a 351C in an 87. His username was 87Cleveland. I haven't seen him in a very long time, but it was a really sweet car. Quote Selected

351c? Reply #8 – November 07, 2006, 08:54:17 PM I currently am putting a cleveland in my TC... I haven't got the engine together yet but it will be in there... Headman makes the headers and canton or moroso makes the oil pan. I got my swap parts off ebay and corral.net... The cleveland family is denoted as the 335 series and was intended to be a blend of 385(Big block) heads and small block displacement with small block mounting. There are 2V heads and 4V heads and NO it doesn't denote how many valves are in the head. It reffers to the number of venturi the carbs had. The intake and exhaust ports are the main difference on the heads. But also there are 3 types of 4V heads. Open chamber, Closed chamber and Boss. The open chamber heads have a 76cc chamber and no quench. The closed chamber heads have a 67cc chamber and quench. Both of these types of heads have non adjustable rockers and will need to be machined for studs if you want roller rockers. The Boss heads have a 65cc closed chamber design and have adjustable rockers with I think 3/8" studs. They should also be acompanied by a D1ZE casting number. There also was a 302C design that has 2V ports and a 57cc closed chamber design that was ONLY made in Australia. These engines had a 6" rod with a 3.0 stroke. I am currently trying to get a 302C set of rods, crank, and pistons to make me a 302C because of a long running joke that I had a big block 302 in high school... hooray for young and dumb... If I haven't given enough info, check out the wikipedia.com version of the 335 series engines.Methos Quote Selected

351c? Reply #14 – November 08, 2006, 12:50:54 PM The cleveland is a big block like turbocoupe 50 and methos said. Ford quit producing the true cleveland in 74, they are a little rare but out there. Would be a neat swap, a guy i used to work for had a 351C in his 71 Ranchero. Three inch exhaust all the way out, super loud, was pushing about 400 ponies I think. Quote Selected
