Reguardless, I have a new 302 Dizzy for the car from a Monarc. Will have it in the car soon, and hopefuly running. Will get the measurements to rest. Scott, do you want the info on the measurements on your general info thread? parts scores from yesterday include a passanger manual seat track, new DS2 dizzy, coil, and Lokar cables. Should have a Holley on the way too

Well, I HAD everything on and ready to go accept the carb stud nuts. Went out and got some, went to install. On the LAST one, the intake cracked where the stud goes into it. Got 2 small chunks of intake off of it. The stud hole is useless now, as is the intake. Currently looking for another to replace. Yippie, another day of hard work paid for my heartbrake at the end of the day. Thaks Fila

In my case, i remved a DS2 dizzy and installed a towncar dizzy with no problems other than the correct oil pump shaft lenght.  the ds2 oil shaft was the same diameter but longer than the TFI shaft.

now,, the 232 v6 oil pump shaft is thicker so that would stand to reason that dizzy shaft would be thicker.

we are talking about 302's only. was the thicker shaft for the 3.8? is that what you mean?


what is a "ds2"?

i dont know about the v6's. i know on the non-roller 302 mustangs they used the smaller gear. when they went to roller cams, they used the larger one. the smaller one you cant find in a steel gear for roller cams, except from MSD.

sorry to hear about your intake! Hope you find a replacement soon. Stick with it, you'll get 'er going eventually!

oh,, gotcha,, not applicable in this situation but that is something i did not know.

so,,, roller blocks from 86up got which diameter dizzy shaft,,, ill bet it got the half inch one, correct?

85 is when the mustang got the roller cam. it uses the .531" gear.

As for the new intake, I'm thinking summit stage 2 Street Strip intake

For $129 it doesn't sound that bad and for when I built the new motor, it will fit right in

Got my manual pass seat track in today, cleaned out the car, found $2.45 in change under the seats in the car. I'm debating running new speker wire to the rears or not. I can't think of anything else I can really do

I got depressed last night about not doing anything, so I ran all new speaker wire. Tsunami AV wires to the amp/sub, 14 guage speaker wire to all 6 speakers, power to the sub, Pioneere 3.5" Tweeters in the dash, Pioneere 6x9's in the tail, and Alpine 6.5" in the doors. All that to the newer JVC headunit. Pulled the passanger seat and consule and run under that for the rear to give a clean look. Not too bad for one day of bordom... Hopefuly I can get that intake by next week and finally knock this motor thing out for a while.

Remember,when you use 351 heads,you'll have to get the inserts for the bolt holes (head bolts) because the holes on a 351 head are bigger than a 302 head.Grab a set through Summit..
