im not saying "go out and be stupid and dont be scared", im saying, do what you do, do youre thing, if its speeding, doing the speed limit, or whatever, just dont be stupid

i also paid for my turbo coupe, my father bought me my 3.8L car, it wasnt even going to be mine, but when my mom declined it, then it became my car, i dont want to mess either of my cars up, but many times, there isnt shiznit you can do

you can be the greatest driver in the world, but it doesnt save you from other people

88SptCoupe: Im 20 also, and i used to drive the speed limit and nothing more for the longest time...then i got my turbo coupe

i do drive like an idiot, ive told stories about me almost wrapping it around a pole

as Shame302 stated, you cant be scared of death, or injury, you have to know, and accept that one day, it can and will happen.

now to me that says you were a good driver and now that you got your turbo coupe, you do stupid shiznit.. doesnt make sense to me

and true you have to watch out for other drivers doesnt mean you have to be a moron and be a driver people need to watch out for..

yes, while i do drive like a moron at times, its only at times, open roads, back roads, to where its just myself

whats the point of having a performance car, or a car ive spent time and money on modding and getting to run right and handle nicely, if all im going to do is just drive the speed limit?

"my car runs 11's" "wanna race" "no, never"

these aren't the safest cars ever made, but I would rather be in one of these then a civic or small car in a high speed impact. Driving stupid is stupid. There is nothing more to it. I like to go fast and yeah its fun. But when I go fast it is on a two lane road at midnight rather then weaving in and out of traffic during rush hour on the freeway. I dont want to hurt anyone else. I dont like to drive on the freeway with people in the car going the speed limit. If you sit in my car you will wear your seat belt.

The point is that if I drive fast it isnt going to affect anyone else if I can help it. If you wanna be stupid then fine. Dont screw someone else over it.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Reminds me of something that happened in my senior year of highschool. I was heading to school in April and we had one of our big april rains in Chicago so it was rather wet out. I was sitting at a stop light waiting to make a left turn. The turn lane I was in had 2 turning lanes (ie 2 left turn lanes 2 that go straight). Well next to me waiting to turn was a girl from the school next door to mine (I went to a all boys catholic highschool and next door was a all girls catholic highschool) who had just gotten a 91 4 banger Mustang. Well I kinda know her and when the light turned for us to turn she decided that she was going to show off her new wheels. Well she hit the gas WAY too hard while turning and spun the car around 2 times (mind you its been raining for 4-5 hours at this point) and almost smacks into the side of my Bird. She continues to spin and smacks a light pole which takes out the rear of the car and causes the pole to fall. Well the guy infront of me stoped to watch so I'm stuck behind him watching all this happen. Well when the pole began to fall I noticed that it was going to fall right on the roof of the Bird. I said "holy sh*t" and slamed on the gas to go around the guy in front of me. I swear that is the only time I've driven the Bird in the rain and slamed on the gas and the car acctually grabbed and took off. The pole misssed the Bird by 2 feet. That scared the cr*p out of me. I pulled over and ran back to the Stang and found the girl standing next to the car in a daze staring. She was ok and the cops came to get statements from me and the other guy. Needless to say she got a big ticket. Just goes to show that an inexperienced driver can do stupid things even with a car that doesn't have much power.

U want to make a Kid respect his car make Him PAY FOR IT.
When its given free and daddy will fix the car and mommy will give gas money who cares its all good.

Personally I can't really agree with that, being as i've now had 2 cars given to me. My first car ('80 Ford Fairmont Wagon w/ an inline 6) and my current car (the Bird). My second car is the only car i've ever paid for. Anywho getting to the point, I personally believe it's the upbringing of sorts that is the main bearing on how a kid handles his/her car. I do agree that "spoiled" children have a tendency to play to rough with their cars since they know that mom and pop will get them outta a jam. Where-as, in mine as well as i'm sure others situations, I was raised to respect and take care of my belonging's. Any car I have had I have sunk ungodly amounts of money into them, irregardless of whether or not it was a rust bucket. I need my cars to get me to and from work, the grocery store, doctor, to visit family and friends houses, etc. etc. . I have never had the luxury of being able to just go out and drive the hell out of any of my cars. One day I hope to be able to, but for now i'm content with just basic a to b travel.

Even still, Haystack. Safer is a relative term. No matter what you drive, You're always three feet from death. It's enough to make someone pay attention.

And Shawn "My car runs 11's" "wanna race" "track's open fridays and saturdays". Sounds resonable to me.
