Power Window Motor Tips August 07, 2007, 09:54:50 PM I just fixed my Son’s bad Window Motor on his 85 T-Bird.Luckily it was only a worn out gear, $ 20.00 replacement part.A lot cheaper than replacing the whole motor. Here are the best 3 post I found on this site to find a fix for this.http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=12287&highlight=Door+windowhttp://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=14812&highlight=Door+windowhttp://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=14573&highlight=Door+windowI took some pics as I went along to help out the next person to enjoy this repair. The socket could just meet it inside at least on a couple of the holes. Quote Selected

Power Window Motor Tips Reply #6 – July 24, 2009, 08:39:02 AM Some can get by on this job by using the old gear and three 1/4" nuts. The edges can be sanded down.Thanx for the pics. Quote Selected
Power Window Motor Tips Reply #7 – July 24, 2009, 10:39:10 AM I just did this on my 86 and had already fixed my sons 83. I only replaced the small inserts that break as the gears were still fine. These are the same set up as on my 65's, my 70, and 76 Birds. The other thing I did though was to take the motor apart and clean the contacts in the base. On my sons car if the window was left in a certain spot it wouldnt work. When I took it apart after the 3rd time I decided to open up the motor and look at it before putting in a new one. Glad I did as once I cleaned up the contacts and replaced the dew wipes it has been fine for the past year and a half. Quote Selected

Power Window Motor Tips Reply #11 – July 26, 2009, 01:48:44 PM I tore into the door to get a look at whats going on.The 2 clips that are glued to the glass to push it up and down have let go their bond.I read on Coolcats, that no one has had any luck with glues and epoxys. What about rearmirror epoxy? Should bond to glass??? Quote Selected
Power Window Motor Tips Reply #12 – July 26, 2009, 02:26:31 PM See if you can get a windshield epoxy, that's what I used on mine and it hasn't budged. However I baked mine in a paint booth for 3 hours, so you'll have different results.http://foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?t=22201&page=3Heres a recent thread. Quote Selected
