Smoke from exhaust after injectors/fpr swap.....

Mmmmmm.......could be.I got the cam that 32FoxBird reccomended.I was told it's great with Speed Density. After I get the heads and cam on,I'll start collecting everything for a Mass Air conversion. With the cam I also got a gear drive timing set as part of the deal.I don't know if it's going on or if the new timing chain is going on.I still have to gather gaskets and fluids for the parts swapping I want to do.Gotta sell more stuff first. My monthly allowance for the car is already depleted.

Mass Air?Probably this fall.I got the cam 32FoxBird spoke of above, and as part of the deal,I'm also getting a gear drive timing set.I may or may not use the timing set,we'll see.I'll start gathering Mass Air parts soon.I still have to get gaskets and fluids to install my heads, cam, etc.I'll sell some more of my extra parts to get this all finished.

Hey Thunderjet,do you have Mass Air yet?How hard is it to install?

Nope still SD. That's why I used the Comp 266HR cam.

did you get the b303 or the b302? the b302 works better with SD. as far as mass-air conversions, its real easy. get a mass-air pigtail from any ford eec-iv vehicle, buy some 18ga wire, get a mass air meter from a v8 fox mustang and computer, then look on the net for converting. there are diagrams that show you which wires to tap into, and which pins to move on the bulkhead connector. this is the way i did, and running 19lbs injectors with a SD cam and computer netted a failed emissions test. the next day i converted to mass air only, and it passed with flying colors. still using the SD cam.

It's the 303.Do you think it'll work with Speed Density? To be honost,I thought it was the 302 when I bought it,but,my fault for not paying close enough attention.I'll start collecting the Mass Air parts I need as soon as I can.I've got to sell my extra parts and get this project going.I want to get my engine done and the Mass Air finished before I get the car painted.

With the B303 you'll need Mass Air. It just won't idle right with SD because of the lobe separation angle.

Ford Racing states all of the alphabet cams require Mass Air...

O.K.,Mass Air will come sooner.I saw an '89 Mustang harness on E-bay,but I think I'll get the kit and modify my extra harness for the Sport that I have.OR,do you think it would be easier to modify the harness while it's in the car?I want this to be hassle free.....as much as it can be anyway.

Vinnie all you need is the plug with a little wire from the maf.The rest is just adding and moving a few wires to the comp. It's not as hard as it seems.I seen the plugs goin for .99 on ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTANG-88-87-86-MASS-AIR-CONVERSION-PIGTAIL-MAF-5-0_W0QQitemZ330141362142QQihZ014QQcategoryZ33557QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Or just get one from the yard.

It ain't a big deal, involves just seven wires(maybe nine)... Four added for the MAF meter, two moved for the TAB & TAD solenoids, and one added for the fuel pump monitor... Last three aren't even absolutely necessary... The Ford Racing piggyback EEC connector that is supplied with their MAF conversion, doesn't even address the last three... Cars using it, spit out all sorts of codes...

The '87-earlier harnesses lack the two wires for the speed sensor, had to add those to the harness I used...

I would NOT pull or replace a harness to make these changes, far easier to modify the existing one...

For the TAB & TAD, I added the pin connectors to the EEC Plug, and just tapped into the wires to the solenoids leaving the pins for SD in place... Technically  mine is setup to run either MAF or SD(and not throw codes), did same on a stock Stang years ago...

It sounds easy to you guys, but that kind of wiring makes me nervous.I can swap engines, suspension, interior,do bodywork, just about anything, but, when it comes to electric fan wiring, and this Mass Air stuff,I don't trust myself.I need a diagram with a few pics and an explanation that a first grader could understand.....and I'm serious.

Also,if I just buy the plug,I'll need the small connectors for the computer, where do you get those,or,I could buy the kit for $39.99 which has the wires, plug, connectors and instructions.I also read that a harness from an '89 Mustang 5.0 will just swap in with no wire swapping or anything.Comments?

Vinnie cut any plug off of a car at the yard .I keep one handy,
Each wire comes out with a tiny screw driver. If you use that pic I gave to you it will show how easy. After you do it you won't believe how easy it was.Hardest part for me was gettin slack on the cables at the computer, and that was my own fault .Tired from replacin the moter and exhaust and the wireing in 2 days.
I will mail you all the wires to plug into the comp if you want.
This cake for you BUBBA!
