so anything new? i spent the better part of this week reading through project evolution and now have read through this one, i think i'm hooked. you've done an amazing job on evolution and now on evolutionII. i hope when i start on my bird i can do as good a job as you. hopefully i can start on it later this year but i've got a lot to do between now and then.
I have personally seen the exact same thing happen before and as Dan B. said, it's the front main seal. My brother and I were coming home from a fishing trip. We were only on the highway a couple of minutes and he says"What the f_ _k! Is that coming from us?" I looked in the mirror and there's a blue smoke trail behind us. He pulled over off the highway and I get out to look and there's a 8in puddle under the transmission. Son of a... as we are two hours from home. Checked the fluid and it was alright so I told him to just drive. As long as he kept it under 65mph we were alright but as soon as he went over that it would start spewing again. From past experience I'm going with Dan B. front main seal.
I would suggest replacing the stock transmission cooler(if it has one) with an aftermarket one. I replaced the stock one on my ranger, I couldn't even see light through it, with one rated for towing up to 15000lbs. A bit over kill but it sure did make a difference. The cooler you can keep an automatic, the longer it will last. Just my .02 though.
I'll be starting on my 83 heritage later this year. I too have a lot of memories of growing up with that car. It's been in the family since 85 when my father bought it. I inherited it after my father passed in 2001. It sat from 2001 till 2009 when me and a buddy started tinkering with it a little and it was the same deal, a little gas, a little oil, and a new battery and she fired up and ran like I had been running it all along. Got to love Ford small blocks.
yes they do. they sell a master kit for the actuators and window motors that has everything. one kit does both doors. $259.99 part number is LRS-23394AK they are for fox stangs but should work in birds and cougars too.
