Drivetrain Tech / Explorer 8.8 Swap
One of my auto teachers has a spare 8.8 limited-slip diff out of an Explorer that he is going to give me. I was wondering what the specs are on sizing and such. I cant find online anywhere that'll tell me how wide my 7.5" out of my '83 T-Bird and how wide said Explorer rear end is. I do not know the year yet.

Engine Tech / Engine Upgrade Help
So, what started as simply doing the head gasket has now expanded to me wanting to basically rebuild the entire top end of my 'Bird. SO: I'm putting on a 4bbl intake and carb from an '85 Mustang and will be doing a valve-grind job, but now I kind of want to go whole hog and do the timing chain. And so I figure if I'm doing that I might as well throw in a cam, and if I'm doing that I might as well throw in new lifters and so on...What I was hoping for was for some insight into what I should look for in terms of cam grinds/brands/lifters, etc. I would like to know what you guys/gals have done.

Engine Tech / 4 bbl. Intake and Carb
I elected to wait to do my head gaskets until I could find the money to also install a 4 bbl intake and carb. As such I found a guy who is selling me the stock intake a carb from an '85 Mustang GT. As far as I know the carb is the factory carb. So I'm wondering if anybody has any useful tips on how to modify the Automatic Kickdown so as to work on the "new" carb. I know that if say you buy a carb from Edelbrock or Holley you have to buy a Lokar adapter bracket but I'm not 100% sure if I need it for a factory Ford piece. The guy says that the carb was from a manual transmission Mustang. ($100 for the intake and carb seemed pretty decent to me)

Engine Tech / Radiator Question
Does anybody know if Radiators from 1987 and up Mustangs would fit in an '83 Thunderbird with minimal modification? I could possibly have a deal on one, but don't really want to buy it if it won't fit easily enough.

Engine Tech / Head Gasket
Well unfortunately for my wallet and I it appears that my head gaskets have decided to die. I was wondering if anybody had any useful tips for doing the head gaskets on my '83 5.0L 'Bird this weekend?

Electrical Tech / Reverse Lights
It's pouring rain so I haven't done any in-depth detective work yet, but I thought I'd try you guys first. For some reason when I have my lights on my revers lights stay on, even in Drive and every other gear. No I have not plugged my license plate lights into my revers sockets-I checked that.

Suspension/Steering / Fox Body Mustang Front End Parts for T-Bird?
I've been looking around and want to upgrade the front end of '83 5.0L Thunderbird like Mustang owners can but am unsure of what I can do. I was wondering if anyone here has used parts from Maximum Motor Sports (i.e. Sway Bar End Links, Caster/Camber Plates, etc.) Would a Strut Tower Brace for an '83 or so Mustang for instance fit on my T-Bird?

Electrical Tech / Help Can't Figure Out this Electrical Issue
The Charging System warning light (AMP Light on Dash) had been coming on intermittently on my '83 5.0L Bird for a couple of months. Last weekend it was on, then later on wouldn't start. A jump got it started and so I replaced my alternator and charged my battery. I've started it a couple of times now and the "AMP" Light is still on. So: do I need to reset something after having replaced the Alternator or does anybody have any ideas on what I should check next. If the latter applies how do I go about checking said device.

Body/Appearance/Interior / A/C Removal on 1983 Thunderbird
I was wondering how hard it would be to remove the Air Conditioning compressor, condenser and acspoogeulator. I plan to at least remove the compressor's belt but want to know if I can remove it entirely. i believe that the system has been converted to R-13 but obviously has a substantial leak and seeing as I made it through my first summer with the 'Bird without A/C I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it again.

Suspension/Steering / Easy Front Brake Upgrade
I was hoping someone could suggest a relatively cost effective and easy front brake upgrade. Basically I was hoping that I could upgrade my rotors, calipers and pads without replacing spindles or having to convert to 5-lug. I own an '83 Heritage Edition without ABS.
