I'm looking at purchasing another TC, but in order for me to do so, I need to make sure it'll fit inside my garage as I intend on the car being a project that I'll work on over the years until I get it how I want it.
Can someone please measure their TC from left mirror to right mirror and from the front to the rear or provide a link that already has these details?!
Free bump for a nice looking TC. Good luck with the sale Andrew.
thanks man. I just have to come to grips that I'm just too big for turbo coupes. between my stepdad and I we've had 5 TCs and I love them..maybe one day when I lose some weight I'll pick up another or maybe a nice SC or just a simple LX!
Stepdad said he wants to sell it as he doesn't have the time to do anything with it since he's been working up in Northern NJ so here goes:
I'm listing my 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe (5 speed). Listing it simply because I haven't had the time to do anything with it and I'd rather see it go to someone who has more time to work on the car than I do. The car is in good shape with a very straight body and lots of new parts. The car is going to need front brakes soon and also is in need of sway bar frame bushings. Windows were tinted to 15% (front/side/rear/front brow) by dynamic tint in NJ. Drivers side door panel lower arm rest cracked in half so I threw it out, but kept the top of the arm rest as it was in good shape and also the door lock cover panel. Car comes with spare speaker covers, 2 PRS struts, 1 shock, 2 rear side windows and some other misc stuff. The car also has the map pockets, but they're not installed & will be included. In the photos you'll notice that 1 of the fog lights is missing..it's not missing, it's just in the trunk while I replace the bulbs. It will be installed prior to being sold. The car has approximately 113,410 miles or so, but that number is low because of the bad speedometer drive gear or speed sensor (1 of the 2) that was replaced by the previous owner so that car probably has 140-150,XXX. Car is inspected until 5/10 or 6/10 (not sure of the exact month) in PA.
Please don't mind the road dust on the car as the weather in SE PA has been rocky over the past few weeks.
The car was tuned by Brian Larkin (BJL) from TSTACC & NATO a few months ago
Here's a list of parts added to the car by the previous owner and myself: PREVIOUS OWNER- Brakes - 18 months ago Tires - maybe 6-7k on them Walbro 255 fuel pump w/correct sock - 2 years ago Gas tank- 2 years ago Rack and pinion - 12 months ago same for the rest of front end parts Ball joints Control arm bushings Sway bar end links Alternator Belts Ignition switch -2 years ago Clutch Pressure plate pilot bushing 4/10/09 Trans Mount Rear main seal 4/10/09 Speedometer drive gear 4/10/09 Speed sensor PRC struts - came off a parts car that had receipt after accident 26k miles on them AC converted to R134 Radiator - 2 yrs ago Heater core - 2 yrs ago New Ford headlights - 1 year ago
My son is 4" taller than you with a similar weight, and he drives a fox mustang as a daily driver.
I forgot to mention that I have 2 titanium rods on my spine so I have to sit fairly straight or it irritates the shiznit out of my back. I just really want to replace the turbo coupe with another tbird down the line and I also love the 5-speed super coupes.
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not the super coupes have more room or less room inside than the '87 turbo coupes. The reason I ask is I currently have an '87 Turbo Coupe that I'm going to end up selling because I'm just too big for the car; I'm 6'2 and 300+. Basically I'm looking to find out the the leg room, hip room and the height room. I found this info on edmunds.com about the '90 SC:
Front Head Room: 38.1 in. Front Hip Room: 57.6 in. Front Shoulder Room: 59.1 in. Rear Head Room: 37.5 in. Rear Shoulder Room: 59.1 in. Rear Hip Room: 56.6 in. Front Leg Room: 42.5 in. Rear Leg Room: 35.9 in.
can't find anything on the Turbo Coupe because they don't go back past '90.
I really do love tbirds, but the turbo coupes, at least, aren't made for tall & fat people.
