Electrical Tech / 88 5.0 bird no start
To test and verify (not leave it this way), you can jumper around the fuse link... BUT those don't fail without a reason, so you likely have a direct short upstream in your harness, unless of course it was caused by a faulty ignition switch, in which case we can thank God that the fuse link worked and prevented your 'bird from a fiery death.

I thought I had read somewhere, whether it was on this site or another one, I don't remember... but anyway, our cars have known issues with wiring failures, most having something to do with the ignition switch.  I know on both of my birds, the TC and my old LX (May she rest in piece), the ignition switch was defective and had melted both the wiring and the connector.  At any rate, I recall reading somewhere that the ignition and headlight switch pigtails were available.  Maybe someone who has replaced them can provide part numbers, etc.

Power to the starter relay appears to actually originate through the ignition switch -> neutral safety and comes in on the W/PK.  The R/LB routes this power to the TFI.  You said that you checked the downstream side of all fusible links, but with Links E and C inline, it might be very easy to hit one and miss the other.  If good, I would look closer at the ignition switch and verify power into the switch on the Y  wire(s) and verify power out in run, at the switch on both R/LG and BR/PK.  If good look at fusible link D.

I suspect that you may have had a wiring meltdown which may have shorted circuits, damaged connectors or opened up one or more links.  Unplug connectors and trace.

Good Luck!

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / WTB 2.3 head
Can you elaborate a bit more?  When you say "never been off" do you mean that you have a complete motor you would be willing to part with or just the head?

T-Bird/Cougar Parts & Cars WANTED / WTB 2.3 head
My bird is down and out at the moment. After pulling her out of storage and getting her ready to run, noticed coolant in one of the cylinders.  I had hoped that is was nothing more than a head gasket, but once I pulled the head and had it checked, it was discovered that it has cracked all the way from the exhaust seat into the water jacket.

Still, she has over 200K miles on her and I'm not quite ready to do a complete Coyote swap just yet.

If anyone has either a head in good shape or even a complete motor for a reasonable price, let me know.

Site Suggestions / Uploading Pics?
Did you ever get a handle on this?

You can use an image hosting service like imageshack.us and then use the proper BBCode image tags provided by the image hosting service.  It makes things much, much easier and cuts down on site overhead as well, speeding up the site for everyone.

General Computer Forum / laptop display
This is a  pretty easy fix, as long as you have the correct parts at a reasonable cost.  Take you time, ground yourself, your work surface and the equipment you are working on. Static electricity is the major enemy and it only takes a few simple precautions to avoid it.  You might also discover broken backlights and other broken pieces once you have the old screen removed, so you might take a few minutes to have a look around and make sure that all of the broken parts are replaced while you have it apart. Generally speaking, if the LCD is broken, it is cheaper to replace the laptop than the screen.  It sounds as if you might have caught a break though on the parts.

Good Luck!

General Computer Forum / linksys router and port information
You didn't specify which router model and version you have, nor did you specify which software version yours is running.  That being said, I am running a WRT-54G v2 and DD-WRT software, 2.4 (STD), if memory serves.  This software does allow external syslog functionality and traffic shaping. It also support access to near-time IP stats(30 sec delay).  You didn't specify of your PC's are all wired or wireless or a mixture, but I can tell you that if wireless, they all use the same port, which is likely to be useless for your purposes. AFAIK, the hardware does not allow for port mirroring, which would be necessary if attempting to monitor on of the switched ports.

I hope that this reply is both on topic and was of some sort of help.

General Computer Forum / Official: Mac OS X 10.8 = Mountain Lion
Wow, I am still way, way back on Snow Leopard, since some of my development tools act up when running on Lion. One of these days, I am gonna have to replace this late 2008 iMac with a new one, but this one has been fairly reliable and running pretty much 24/7 for almost 4 years with only two hard drives and one power supply replacement required.  Only one of which (the last one) was NOT covered by Applecare.:hick:
