A few years ago, we drove the Chevelle down to Georgia for an all Chevelle show and we ended up staying in the same hotel as Chuck and many other show partints, so in the morning we were all standing out in the parking lot in a big circle talking about cars. A car drove by and spit some condensation on my leg, and Chuck just pics up a dirty old rag that was laying there and threw it to me. He was just an average Joe; not pen 15y or anything. We even checked out the car he brought to the show, which was a 64 Chevelle wagon, and it wasn't even sparkly clean and stuff! He complemented my dad on his Chevelle and even gave it it's own space in the Chevelle club magazine with it's own picture and caption, which was really cool for us!
Anyways yeah...I stopped watching all those early Sunday shows because I'm never awake by then, and they've changed everything so much, I don't like it any more.
UPDATE: Over the weekend, dad and I spotted loads of good deals on HO parts this weekend on ebay, and we've REALLY narrowed the list down. Here's what we've won so far:
HO upper intake HO Throttle body/EGR Plate & spacer (came with a k&n filter too) HO 5-speed computer HO camshaft 19lb injectors Mustang Shortie headers (not required for conversion, but wont hurt  )
So now all that's left for us to get are the heads, which we're going to pick up from a local junkyard, and the MAP sensor, which we'll buy new from an auto parts store.
When all this stuff arrives, I'll be cleaning it all up and getting it all ready, so I'll update you all on the progress. Unfortunately, it will still be a few weeks before the Chevelle done so this will be held back a bit, but that just gives me more time to prepare everything. I can't wait!
Yeah, my dad and I already noticed the lack of a spot for the O2 sensors. Will there be any clearance problems when putting the headers in, or do they fit in well?
Also, the exhaust is going to have to wait a while; I'll have to keep the stock crummy Y pipe for now, until I can get $300 for a new system. :( Oh well, that will just keep the car looking bone stock for a while. :D
Good points, guys! Well we scored a camshaft last night for $5.50 + $12 shipping, and there's a whole TON of stuff we may be able to score today. In addition to getting HO conversion parts, we might get a set of Mustang shortie headers since I hear that they can help quite a bit. This is going to be fun! :D My Tbird should even be able to beat (or at least stay with) my dad's 84 Trans Am 305 after the conversion . Can we say "sleeper?"
Cool, thanks for all the comments. I'm happy with my choice because I wouldn't have been able to do everything I'd want on the PC with the limited budget. I'm excited about adding another ~60hp to my car :) .
