Parking Brake - Center Console?

I searched for this but didn't come up with anything.
Has anybody ever tried to convert the parking brake in a Fox Cougar/Tbird to a center console hand brake? I suppose the parts from a Crustang could be swapped over.
I've read on TCCoA that you can do it in the MN12s. It involves routing the cables through the rear floor boards and using an SC console.
I'm just curious, as I hate the floor-mounted parking brake.

I started to. I'll have to do some digging to find the thread as it was  created before the search was screwed up.

EDIT: Found it!

What I don't cover in that thread is that you need to use SN-95 parking brake cables (at least for rear disc). I never got my e-brake handle... FedEx screwed up my shipment and they (discbrakes...) were out of stock. I waited for a month then cancelled the order due to parting out of my 88 TC. But other than mounting the handle and drilling a hole for the cable to pass through I think It would work rather well. Discbrakesrus also has an adjustable Y-cable. The hardest part would be modifying the Stang center console to mate with the TC stuff. If you need pics of the Stang consoles I can look for them.

Are you trying to do FWD 'drifting' in your RWD car, Zach?

I, too LOVE the center-mounted e-brake handle that my Neon has.  It's real handy close to the shifter.

YUCK!!!:yuck:

Ugliest. Consoles. Ever.

Also the fact that you would need to relocate your window and mirror controls (and seats if you have power seats)...

I think the center mouted brake wouldn't look right in a bird/cougar. I have thought about getting rid of the of the floor pedal and putting in a pull out type from a chevyluv, nissian hardbody trucks, I think even the mazda's and the ford courier. That is what I have thought of pulls stright out frim under the dach and a quick turn of the wrist and it puhes back in.

Well for me I just deleted the power seat, and the mirror controls are already on there... at least in this one.

Which leaves the power windows, I am thinking about moving mine to the door just to keep my passengers from messing with them (hate that!) or you could just cut an opening in the console somewhere and be done with it.

Personally I like the 87-93 Stang consoles. It matches the TC the best IMO. The four-eyed versions I can live without. :D
