Pic of the newly "slammed" 'Bird

Only one small pic, mind you, as I'm in Dialup hell. You'll have to forgive the dirtiness as well, as the car is just out of the garage after nearly two weeks under the knife (and well water is at a premium anyway). You can't really see the "rake" because of the angle, but you can see the difference in fender gap between the rear and front tires. Now I've just gotta get the snowflakes restored and some bigger meats on there, and bring the arse end down...

I'm probably gonna do a blue stripe in the mouldings I think - the car now has a blue interior anyway. The only thing that's certain is that I ain't keeping 'em chrome - the TC bumper cover I've got to install dictates that.

The sharp-eyed of you might also notice I've got a TC quarter window installed. That came as the car was broken into just before I bought the parts TC. Now I've gotta take the TC window trim off the doors and put it on these ones...

As for the color of the car, when the interior was still porno red I had originally planned on a bright fire engine red exterior, but the new blue interior killed that idea. Now I'm about 50/50 on white or silver. White has its advantages (mainly the fact the car already is white), but I liked the looks of silver on my '87 Sport and on the parts TC. I may even do a white/silver two-tone like on the '87 XR7's. I've pretty much decided the snowflakes are gonna be white, so the body will probably remain white as well (guess that puts me at about 60/40 white/silver :D)

looks good!! If you had to estimate how much did it drop?  Once the rear is lowered that will look perfect. I seriously have to go down a little on my bird as it sits much to high...someday

As far as color i would go silver...but thats just me.

That's about how low mine sits in the front right now (with BBK lowering springs for a 5.0 Mustang, and '94 GT rears). If you wanna bring the back end down to match, put in some SN95 rear springs.

I've just got one little thing to fix on mine... I measured all four wheelwells from the ground to the top of the center of the wheelwell. They're all right around 26" (plus or minus a couple 1/8ths), except the passenger side front, which is almost exactly 1/2" higher than the driver's side front (and it actually sits higher than the rear on that side). I'm trying to figure out how I want to fix that, I suppose I could trim the coil a bit on that side, although it seems odd that it sits like it does.

Shawn: The red interior isn't really biting the dust, it's just being removed in favour of a blue TC interior. I'm storing it in one of my sheds in case I ever happen to come across another T-Bird or Cougar that needs it, or if I ever come across red TC seats (maybe even leather :deal:). The dash is cracked, so it's not worth saving, but everything else including the carpet will be kept. Even the non-sport, non-consolette-style seats - they're faded (again) but no rips or tears.

4MyKid: THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT! That car looks great in silver, much like my parts TC would have without the rust and peeling clearcoat. You've just pushed me more toward silver. Hell, when I install the TC hood, left fender, header panel and bumper cover the car will be half silver anyway :hick: As you can see, I'm quite on the fence about colour.

The car dropped, I would guess, about 1.5-2". I can see why you want to lower it, though - one doesn't realize how much these things look like a 4X4 until one drops the car.

Red LX: It must be a thing with these cars - the right front side of mine sits slightly higher than the left as well. I haven't measured it, but it looks about 1/2". It was like that before the swap too (I thought I had a broken spring on the left, turns out both springs were broken at exactly one coil), and I'm sure I've read about others having the problem.

Oh BTW- just be prepared to occasionally have some stuff drag....I raised my lers up as high as I could without my Y-pipe hitting the driveshaft, but they're still a bit low and sometimes they'll drag so I gotta watch it. I also have to be careful not to hit my exhaust tips off the ground on steep entry/exitways. I would also recommend getting some kinda helper springs or helper airbags for the rear as the SN95 springs are a lower rate...plus, the airbags give you some height adjustability which is always nice!

I've got the CHE adjustable lower control arms, so height adjustment won't be an issue :D. I'm gonna put the stock TC springs in it when I swap the rear - that TC sat quite a bit lower than my 5.0 even in the back, so it should even it out. If it doesn't I'll go for something else...

Here's a pic of the parts TC the day I bought it - as you can see it sits quite low in the butt:

My lers are already very close to the floor (true duals, so no Y-pipe issues). I may have some sing issues, but so far none - I drove it again today towing a trailer to pick up some furnace oil (seven 5-gal jerry cans, didn't wanna put the stinky things in the Volvo, as furnace oil stink is extremely persistent) on one of the worst roads in the province, (half pavement/half gravel, and in several places, both) and had no bottoming or sing issues. The SFC's will bring the bottom of the car closer to the ground, tho, and I imagine in spring when the frost heaves are bad it'll be a different story, but this car will never see frost again anyway...

I think the 87 XR7 White/Silver combo would look awesome on your car. With white snowflakes that car would look sweet. Even the blue trim stripe would compliment White/Silver well. To each his own, good work though, I might have to wait on engine upgrades and do suspension.

Now where have I seen a white/silver combo before....
:flame:

J/K, they do show up well together. The silver from our era, coupled with Oxford White, will make a very handsome combination. Don't forget to add the 1980's Ford "laser" stripes on the bottom there. ;)

Anyone ever considered Silver over white?  It might be interesting with the white wheels.  Maybe I'll do a PS of it for a better idea of what it might look like.
