ok when the time comes for the cougar to get its kick ass sterio system i whanna have it be the best. so ive chosen my amp its a crossfire vr1000d amp. yes a 100w mono amp! Now i have hav this set up before and was using digita design 12 inch subs with that amp and it kicked ass. now the downside i can't find anyone who sells this sub. so now what sub could handle that size amp? any and all options accepted thanx! oh and its gotta be a relative good price for a pair of subs.

100 watts seems pretty weak to run a sub, even weaker for 2.

What is your idea of a relatively good price?

Just about any name brand should do. I think you should get a free air sub due to the extra damping that it has. I'd also tell you to look over the post by mex cougar. I explain alot in that section. I would also recomend a free air setup in the cougar to save space. Also to reduce cancellation.

Look his amp up, he's missing a 0. Its 1,000w rms into 1 ohm at 12.5v

That explains a lot, Seek. I was wondering why he was getting so excited over 100 watts.

In my opinion the best bang for the buck, if you are on a tight budget, would be 2 12" Alpine Type-Rs. I've read many good reviews about these subs on various car audio forums. They are rated at 500w RMS, so 2 would be perfect. You can find them online for a little over $100/ea, depending on where you buy them.

If you have a little more cash to work with, I'd go with a Sound Splinter RL-P (http://www.soundsplinter.com). I'm currently running one of these with a JL 500/1 amp in a ported box tuned to 32 hz and it sounds great and hits very clean. While it's rated at 500 watts, this sub could easily handle 1000 watts with the gain set correctly. When I was in the market for a new sub, this is what I settled with after quite a bit of research. I never read one bad thing about this sub.

ipsd, I don't understand what you mean by the free air sub having more damping. Could you elaborate on that? Personally, I'd go either sealed or ported so you get the best output, rather than infinite baffle. In the trunk of my Tbird, my box fits perfect tucked up right against the rear seat. I hardly used that space for anything anyway, so in my case I didnt lose any trunk space from the box.

well money will end up being tight cuz id be the only one working and paying all the bills and fixing up the coug. and a kick ass sound system would be the icing on the cake to top off the project. and i figured hell get all the reserch done now so when it comes time to get everything i would end up with the best for my amp. and thanx for all the input. great choices to choose from if i cant find any digital design subs.
