I painted my first whole car today!! May 21, 2006, 07:13:02 PM I painted my first whole car today. It's a 1991 Ford Tempo GL that Liggy and I got for free (non-running). We spent the last few weeks fixing it (new batt cables and batt, tune-up, oil change) and now it runs like a champ! I painted it semi-gloss black with white stripes like a Shelby. What do you think? I painted my first whole car today!! Reply #5 – May 22, 2006, 12:55:06 AM I'm wondering if the paint will stick well to the rubbery polycast wheels. It looks awesome, though! What kinda gun did you use? And fill me in about that paint, brand, number? Awesome work. Quote Selected
I painted my first whole car today!! Reply #6 – May 22, 2006, 01:11:24 AM Dupli-Color Semi-Flat Black and Gloss White from the paint isle at NAPA. Yeah, I have mad spray-can skills. Those original flames were done by me with a spray-can too. The poly-cast wheels actually paint really well. Masking up the stripes was pretty hard, it's not perfect (stupid trunk rack isn't in the center of the trunk!!) but it looks better, and that's an accomplishment! I've been painting trim pieces, graphics, and minor accident repair on cars for years using spray-cans, my airbrush, and my spray gun, but this is my first full-body paint. I did it right, too. Door jambs, trunk, and underhood were all painted to match. The grill has been painted in Gunmetal as well, gives it some "color". Quote Selected

I painted my first whole car today!! Reply #8 – May 22, 2006, 11:49:32 PM Nah, we sold it to a friend for $500. She needed a reliable car that got good gas mileage. This is the 3rd biotch car we've re-done and sold (91 Escort hatch, 84 Honda Civic hatch were the other 2). Quote Selected
