87 GT (my first big auto body project) April 22, 2006, 11:12:49 PM Well, some of you may know that in the fall I went back to school as an auto body major. Well this semester I've been working on this 87 GT as well as my 84 SVO. While I didn't actually lay any paint on it (I'll be painting most of my SVO, but I don't think I'm ready to spray candy yet) I did a lot of the body work (including a last minute repair on the pass. door cuz some jerkoff kicked it after I had it wet sanded). I did most of the wet sanding, mixed most of the paint, layed the lines for the scoops and did most of the masking and prep work. While it's by no means perfect I don't think it came out half bad for my first big project. Paint took about 10 hours and I put in a good 15 hours from finish work and prep till final clear. http://www.ferdbird.com/JasonsGT Quote Selected
87 GT (my first big auto body project) Reply #1 – April 22, 2006, 11:18:00 PM looks like it came out nice. I need to repaint my 88 GT. me and a buddy painted it about 7-8 years ago and the black paint just shows way too much. Where are you going to school. I would really like to get into learning how to paint on my own. I already have some body work under my belt but i cant confidently pick up a gun and start sprayin. Quote Selected

The hatch repair was probably the worst since it looked like the attached pic beforehand. It was a 2 part metal patch. My SVO has a lot more in metal work... a good 7 patches and then the filler work over them. Quote Selected
