460 swap 86 cougar

Well I was going to put a 351w in my car but some of my parts came up missing. The only motor I have left is my 460. So I guess the more cubes the better right LOL. I was wondering what is the best header to use? I have heard not to use Hookers because they dont fit good. I already have the double sump oil pan, motor came out of a 80's truck so it has the right one. Should I use motor mounts or motor plates? I well be building with  9 to 9.5 comp pistons, Lunati 218dura. 524 lift cam, ported stock heads, 750cfm carb, and I hope some roller rockers if I can afford them. My desk top dyno says I should be around 430hp and just over 500ftlbs.

What transmission are you planning? Remember the C6 eats 20% of your flywheel horsepower.

If you use motor mounts, you'll probably need to swap to a Mustang cross member. Motor plates should mate up without any changes.

What are you planning to do with the car? Motor plates are good for drag racing, but they don't usually absorb harmonics, so expect them to transfer a lot of vibration through the unibody.

shop around and you can do it for under 1k. i did this swap about 4 years ago. fms mounts and pan, probe industries headers. used a alum fms rad with a parts store 16" electric fan and a 180* stat, ran great never got over 205 sitting in traffic. i used a small dia mustang booster and had the tall motorsport valve covers.

yeah it can be done under 1k if you dont count building the motor,Trans, having a driveshaft built, exhaust, hoses, fuel system, etc. alot of people dont think about the small cost's that build up. Not bashing what you said as you may had got good deals in what you bought.
