Need some help with my game plan....... April 17, 2006, 01:06:34 AM Ok, here's my situation....I have an '87 Bird LX that I'm planning a 3.8/ AOD to 5.0/T-5 swap. I have a '94 Mustang GT parts car that is slated as the doner. After picking up a few more parts I would be ready to start the work. That is, until I opened the June '06 issue of 5.0 Mustang and Super Fords. They have an article on project ideas for 94-95 Stangs, including differences with Fox 5.0/T5's and the SN-95's. There's were my dilema starts. The article states that the SN-95 T5's have a unique bell housing to accomidate a 5/8 in. longer input shaft, and "So, theoretically, only 94-95 T5's and bellhousings can be used in either year mustang." (quote from article). So here are a few questions to you folks: 1. Would using an SN-95 T5 cause clearance problems with the bell housing and firewall/trans tunnel? 2. Would the difference cause a problem with shifter location in the center console? 3. Would I need to have my drive shaft altered? 4. Would it be possible to change out the input shaft with one for a Fox T5, and would I have to tear apart the tranny to do it? 5. Should I just forget this T5 and get a Fox type T5? The article also mentioned some differences in the motor also, including the accy. brackets bringing the accys. closer to the motor, the timing cover and water pump, and the dist. being different with the TFI being moved. I plan on swapping a timing cover and water pump from a Fox setup, as well as the accy. brackets, and dist.An help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks All! Quote Selected
