HID conversion

I found an HID conversion kit online http://www.cqlight.ca/catalog/ for like $200.  But im not sure if that setup will cause any damage to my current headlamp lenses the aero ones are getting hard to come by.

I dunno if those would really perform as good as factory-installed HIDs or if they're more just for the look.

ok here is the prob with this kit. it uses your stock headlight wiring. and when doing his conversion you HAVE to change your wiring. change it to a heavier gage wire. also i think some have done this before but not sure as soon as i get new lensis for my '4 eyed' car im gonna be doing a whole new lighting system for my cougar. also they do give off alot of heat so i would think they would damage the plastic on the lensis. if you go with glass it will eliminate this. hope this helps ya out in your decision.

Another prblem with it is there is no high beam low beam settings. Its just on and off. If you are using the car for in town only you should be fine but I wouldn't go out at night on the interstate.

I hear everyone say that with true HID's you need new, heavier wiring.  The bulbs I have from Volvo use very small gauge wire to supply power to the module.  Now I don't know if it is because Volvo people are stupid or what, but this leads me to believe that they don't draw very much current.  I know how they work and I know what it takes to light them.  It is just weird to me that they would use such small wires....that are hardwired into the module BTW.  I can get pics up later today if interested.  But just looking at it, the HID's I have appear to have the ability to be hooked to the stock wiring and not start a meltdown.
