C4 Swap Q's

I want a strong trans because the cougar will someday be pushing 450 at the wheels, thats my goal w/o NOS.  But i am not building a trailer queen or a show car i will be driving it a LOT and i dont want to lose my highway cruisability.  Can I build a C4 to meet those needs or would i have to put an aftermarket overdrive on behind it.  Another quick one and six speed autos that can fit a 5.0 and handle that much output.

depends on what gear you will be running. i have done alot of highway driving with my C4. it put my rpm's in the 3000 range, while cruising at 70, and the exhaust nearly drove me insane... and i only had 3.08 gearing... though i'm sure my sickly torque converter had something to do with it. next time i will prolly go built AOD or T-5. leaning towards t-5.

I would build a good AOD so you would still have street manners

I have never rebuilt an auto but i have always wanted to.  Who should i get a kit through? I can get one from NAPA for $62.93 but thats not performance oriented.  I plan on a s/c install in the future and i will be putting in a TC rear with 3.55s in.  What would be a good torque converter for present and future?

Hmmmm interesting.  I always thought that the C4/C6 was the way to go for a hi-po auto tranny.  These are more expensive, but they do have OD.  The freaking OD unit for a C6 alone is another 2 grand.
