When purchasing a rebuilt engine....

Do you need to get the cylinder head also???

Since the Cougar is still in my name, and I doubt my brother has done anyting with it, I was considering putting a rebuilt engine into it and getting it on the road again.... but I wasn't sure if I got a rebuilt engine what elsze I would have to get.

HELP!

Usually rebuilt engines come in two forms: a long block or a short block. A short block consists of the block, crank, rods, pistons, and oil pump. A long block consists of the parts previously mentioned but also includes the heads, cam shaft, timing chain and gears, lifters, push rods, and rockers. All that has to be added to the long block are the intake manifold, valve covers, oil pan, front cover, and vola new engine. I hope this helps.
