Mustang H.O computer in T-bird

Well I got my computer today. Put it in the car no more idleing problems:bowdown: but I did notice it raised the base timing 2 deg with the spout out a bit with it in.


before

12 deg out

22 deg in


now

14 deg out

30 deg in


car seems to run much better and everything including the trip minder still works. How much more agressive are the spark maps in the mustang computer? I now have detonation around 2,500 at WOT I am going to start back at base timing and go from there.:D

The EEC has nothing to do with base timing, set purely by the distributor...

Don't have a clue as to the actual timing curves output by the computers, but most HOs can take 13-14* advance(with premiun fuel).

they must be alot more agressive curve. Car feels better I just need to turn the timing down some before i lean on it hard:D

did you rewire anything, or just plug it in? I have a possible bad computer, and a SD HO puter laying around......

didnt touch a wire. swapped in the 19 lb injectors

Actually in this case you should move the pins for the injectors at the EEC plug... You have a cam with 15426378 firing orede while the injectors are firing 13726548.... But when you move the pins it confuses the EEC and causes some of the cylinders to go rich and some to go lean...

Better leave it alone and just swap in the HO cam...

yeah i need to get the cam in it:D  and the heads ... and the intake..

Just a little off topic here...I had my base timing at 14* and I run on regular 87 octane everyday of the week with no problems.  Also, with the base timing set at 14* it will jump to around 36-38* with the SPOUT connector plugged in...seemed a little high to me.

Thats normal for the timing...

Suprised it don't ping on 87 though,consider yourself lucky...
