Transmission Part #???

I just called a local part store asking about high performance torque converters for my 83...I told the guy it was an Automatic Overdrive Transmission but he said he needed a part #   As far as I knew AOD was what it was called.  Am I wrong?

As far as I know a AOD conveter is a AOD converter..... Don't mess with a local unless they specialize in HP. Best bet would be to check out Jegs or Summit...

Well these guys are a performance store...although you'd think they could tell ME what transmission I have.  I could order one from Summit but I'm in Canada so I'd have exhange rate and duty fees to contend with not to mention shipping.

K I called again and this time the guy caught on.  Looks like I can get a 2400 model for a good price, I forget the brand name he mentioned though.  Will this thing just slip on in place of my stock unit or will the transmission need modifications?  I already know I need a transmission cooler.
