turbo stang is fast but not to fast

i've been working out alot of bugs in my trubo stang, like new fuel pump..fixed all the vacume leaks, now it runs a full 7 lbs of boost,

it moves pretty fast, but the turbo spools at about 3 and gets full boost around 4500,

which doesn't leave a whole lot of time to hit 6K rpm, is there any thing i can doo to make it spool faster ? or any cam recomended for turbo stangs ?!

i took a N/A motor and boosted it. so it'll be safe to around 14 lbs of boost,

i'm also looking for a manual boost controler, any recomends ?!

are you running your wastegate line right to your vacume source?

what kind of exhaust is on the car?

yes, my wastegate goes into the vacume source,

and currently,

no exhaust eer maybe 1 1/2 foot of down pipe, 2 1/2 inch

wastegate being on the vacume source is why boost response is slow, you can get a manual boost control just about anywhere, even some for like 20 bucks on ebay, and they all work pretty much the same

dial in your boost to the same 7psi youre making now, and the response will be so much better, the car will actually be faster

so, how should i hook up my MBC ?!

i thought hooking the wastegate up to the vacum tree is how it's done ?! ...

humm what's the reason for turbo lag

the manual boost controller goes in the line that goes from the wastegate to the vacume three

with your setup, its very laggy because its seeing vacume and boost as it changes in you engine

basically, as your turbo is producing boost, its also putting pressure on the wastegate, making it slightly blow open, and slow down boost response

a MBC basically blocks off all signal to the wastegate other than when youre desired boost level is achieved, so its either open or closed, and your boost response is much better that way

i run a MBC on my car, and i ran it the same way you did, and it made a HUGE differnece

so it'll help spool up time ?! ..

Whay about a blow off valve ?! recomended or what ?!

How about the volvo 760 intercooler setup ?! i don't haven an intercooler, only the stock pipe from a 85 t-bird

well, i wouldnt recomend a blow off on one of these cars, a bypass valve usually works best, but with your setup, you dont really need it yet

the volvo intercooler is an okay piece, its large, so it cools well, but it doesnt flow for shiznit, surf around ebay, search "intercooler", and you get a lot of results, showing you lots of options

right now, i dont think an intercooler would help much either

what's the difference between a bypass valve, and a blow of valve ?! and why wouldn't i need one? i thought i needed a BOV because it would help keep the turbo spinning when i let off the gas, so the next time it would spool faster

you tell me the things i should get first...

this thing hauls butt right now, but if i can get it faster...i'd love it,

i've also got a mini spool on the way....any idea on how you install it ?!

the difference between the bypass valve and a blowoff valve is pretty simple, a blowoff valve vents the air to the atmosphere, and a bypass valve recirculates it. you want a bypass valve because the engine meters the air coming in, and if you were to vent it out to the atmosphere, the engine would provide fuel for air that isnt coming in, and would run rich upon shifting

i wouldnt worry about one right now, because you arnt flowing much air at all, and it really wouldnt make any difference at this point

if you plan on doing a front mount intercooler, wait untill you are building your intercooler setup to install the bypass valve, because the intercooler piping will hole a much larger volume of air, and definatly need to be recirculated when you shift, since there will be a while shiznit load of air trying to flow into the closed throttle blade, right now you dont have much volume at all

aa mini-spool is just like installing rear gears, but youre replacing the carrier, not the gears

so all in all, what should i buy first ?! what is my first priority after the MBC ?!

What should i go with next ?!

also, will switching to an E6 mani be any differett ?!

i ported the , i'm not talkin a little bit, i spent about 10 hours of actual grinding time on this mani, port matched and all,

or should i just wait to buy a header ?!

What header should i look into ?!

how much will a ported head help ?! i've spent alot of my own time porting this, but i'm giving it to my local shop to grind on it for a while, and put 1.89 and 1.69 ( or .59 i don't rember) valves in it and at the same time i'm don't 40bob's lower and upper ported intakes,

buy a manual boost controller

if you ported an E3, you somewhat wasted your time, because an E3 can never be ported out anywhere near where an E6 can be, if you switch to a ported E6, it will make a big difference. If you get an E6, port the living hell out of it, and get some die grinder extensions, so you can go in through the EGR port, and grind the hell out of it in there too

if youre doing bobs intakes, DONT get a gutted upper, get a ported upper. the gutted upper makes you lose useful torque, torque that these engines already dont have much of

a ported head will help greatly also, as long as its done right

hurrm,, i don't like EGR's ... so i don't run mine..

and uhh, any one got an E6 mani, or know what cars came with one ?!

and i gutted my upper intake, and ported it, it seems to be fine, but i'm also buying stuff for my next motor, so, it'll have plenty of power, that i won't need to worry about a few lbs of trq,

what about a header ?!

and what about a T3/T4 ?!

i'm trying to make this thing unreasonably fast,

for this car from the stock 2.3 to a turboed 2.3 ....i'm impressed !!!

the mini-spool will take the place of the spider gears and clutches inside the diff.
