Instrument cluster wiring September 19, 2005, 12:43:02 AM Ok so I have a 1987 Thunderbird I bought that someone tried to put an buttstuffog dash in and never finished. I want to put the original Base electronic dash in but the wiring is all over the place in the dash. Anyone have the original locations of the wires? This is driving me crazy.Thanks,-Phil Quote Selected

Re: Instrument cluster wiring Reply #2 – September 21, 2005, 12:45:20 AM Thanks for the help... Have it all wired up but having two problems now...#1 The Speedometer will only show metric readings. If I press the E/M button it does nothing and none of the buttons beep.#2 The temp guage is VERY inaccurate After idling the car for about 10 minutes it shows the temp as pegged at hot but the engine is not that warm. Not really sure if the Gas guage is working properly seeing as I'm not really sure how much fuel I have in the tank.Anyone have any ideas?Thanks,-Phil Quote Selected

Re: Instrument cluster wiring Reply #4 – September 21, 2005, 05:39:06 PM Its the turbocoupe cluster, yeah it has the 7000 tach. I'll swap if your interested but I have to let you know when the person wired up the car something got messed up because he said the printed circuit for the amp gauge burnt up. Looking at it I have to agree, it did. Its fixable if you run a wire from the connector and solder it to the good part of the circuit. Thought I would let you know before you decide. Re: Instrument cluster wiring Reply #5 – September 21, 2005, 08:50:05 PM The TC/Sport cluster ammeter uses a shunt circuit, not a direct feed like the aftermarket units. If he tried to feed the charging system through it, no wonder it burned up... BTW the Sport and TC clusters use the same PCB. And don't forget the TC tach will have to be modified to operate on the 8 cyl. Quote Selected
