Overdrive gear feels like 3rd August 26, 2005, 06:03:24 PM During Cat Jam, I drove After, my friend drove Before, and my wife drove the white 87 XR-7 (no name yet).On the return trip, since it was just the three of us, we were able to confirm that all I had to do was let off the gas to slow down while they had to stay on their brakes just to keep from rear-ending me. Hell, just to maintain speed, I had to keep my foot on the gas while all they had to do was drift with occasional taps to the gas and brake. It also seems that it takes a lot for After to go over 60 mph. However, the RPM reading is normal. It almost feels like I was driving on the highway in third gear while they were in overdrive. I've had Before up to 100 and it didn't take much to get it there. After does not want to do anything over 60. It'll do it, but with a lot of foot in the gas. It has been like this since I bought it but it has never caused a problem. It's more like an annoyance that only became noticeable during the convoy from Cat Jam. I would like to get it fixed before CJ '06 though. The trans has been rebuilt since I bought it but no change with this characteristic.Any ideas? Quote Selected
Re: Overdrive gear feels like 3rd Reply #1 – August 26, 2005, 07:20:15 PM How about different rear axle gears. Does After feel faster than Before accelerating? That's all I can think of off-hand. Quote Selected
