cams...what's good? August 19, 2005, 09:32:00 PM what's the stock duration/lift for the 5.0 SO, and how far can I got with a cam without making the valves get crushed by the pistons?B303F303E303 these I saw in summit racing...which one would do well with the stock heads? Quote Selected

Re: cams...what's good? Reply #3 – August 20, 2005, 07:57:34 PM There's plenty of clearance for any of those cams using the stock E6 heads(the valves are sunk farther into the chamber than on most heads). But the stock valve springs won't like any of those Ford racing cams. If you swap to the better E7 heads, then a stock HO cam is about the limit on the flattops. For the price its impossible to beat the Trick Flow cams. I have the smallest one in my 5.0. But as with any performance cam, they really require good heads, intake, exaust system, mass air, etc. if you want to make any real power. Quote Selected
Re: cams...what's good? Reply #4 – August 21, 2005, 09:47:51 AM I like my trick flow cam... I got the same one as tom. It has a tiny lope to it and a decent idle. Quote Selected
Re: cams...what's good? Reply #5 – August 21, 2005, 11:49:07 AM i have a trick flow cam waiting :Dim not a fan of the motorsport cams, the downside to ford engines is the exhaust side, the heads, valves, and all that, so why have a cam that has the same lift and duration on both the intake and exhaust side? The heads will probably get a lil work...I was gonna do a HO conversion, but my engine is too good to waste Quote Selected
Re: cams...what's good? Reply #7 – August 21, 2005, 07:36:36 PM Just something to think about. If u ever look up Federal-Mogul u will see they make most cams the same as other big dollor places for less. Might help out if funds are cheap.Speed pro makes a rollor cam thats 512/512 lift that will should work with E6s.Its cheap too Quote Selected

Re: cams...what's good? Reply #9 – August 22, 2005, 06:12:32 PM thats not a bad cam.still 112 lob sep so good on the street it would make more power if it was a 110 and sound a bit more choppy. The Lift is not to bad its good for mild little street motor. Quote Selected
