High pressure vs. standard oil pump

I'm just starting to make preparations to change my oil pump and I figure since I'll have the engine out I may as well go ahead and replace the main bearings and main seals while I'm at it. I was going to get a high pressure oil pump but I've heard some people would have misgivings about that so I'm asking opinions. What pump should I get? I have a 22 year old 302 to work with.

A high volume pump with a stock capacity oil pan will suck all of the oil out of your pan and place it in the top end of your engine before it can come back down. Obviously not a good situation. Not sure about the side effects of a 'high pressure' pump. But standard will do you just fine i'm sure.

Go with the standard pressure pump....high pressure/high volume pumps sap more horsepower and are not necessary on most street applications unless you are running a turbo/supercharger. Also, I highly recommend replacing the oil pump drive shaft, I've seen too many of them snap in the standard 5.0 engines...even in low mileage well maintained vehicles. Good luck with it.
