Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #3 – August 10, 2005, 12:08:30 PM you could easily make around the same power in a 5.0. If you are that worried about it, get a 302 with a kit and make it a 347. Then you have an engine with 351 internals and the weight of a 5.0 with lots of power. Quote Selected

Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #5 – August 10, 2005, 12:16:44 PM Since when was there a Chevy 350 big block? There are Oldsmobile 350's, Pontiac 350's and Buick 350's, but I've never heard of a 350 big block. You're probably thinking of the Olds 350 "rocket", popular in the late 70's. It's a dog.As for puttinig a Chevy engine into a Ford, I'm against it not only in prinl but in practicality - a 5.0 will easily make as much or more power than any 350 ever hoped to and it's much lighter, and will bolt right into your car and onto your tranny (if you don't already have one in there). The aftermarket support for the 5.0 is enormous as well.If a big block floats your boat a 429/460 will fit your engine bay with readily available adapters (there are a few members of this board who have done it) and again will easily make as much or more power than a Brand X big block. Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #6 – August 10, 2005, 12:19:07 PM ...and a long block is simply an engine with cylinder heads on it. If you've got a running car you've got a long block in it already. A short block is a bare block with only the crank, rods, pistons and cam installed. Quote Selected

Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #8 – August 10, 2005, 12:33:47 PM I guess their answer depends on whether or not you're going to respond like this again:http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?p=33309#post33309 Quote Selected
Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #9 – August 10, 2005, 12:37:13 PM the power you make depends on the money youre willing to spendyoure going to need to convert to HO, using an HO computer and injectors, then you can go over to trick flow, or holley that sells heads/cam/intake kits, and just put it together and have it tuned Quote Selected

Re: 350 big block or 396 Reply #13 – August 10, 2005, 01:40:00 PM you are not "familiar" with summit racing. You heard thier name on a show once. If you were "familiar" with summit racing you would know what kits are out there for a 5.0, cause they have a huge section under "mustang" or "Ford" that would have the products mentioned above. you can't just ask, "me want m0r3 p0\/\/3r, tell me how". You have to "read" and "research" on what is out there and decide what you want to do. magazines, forums (please read them first, before posting, it's only polite), AND asking the same question repeatedly won't net you different answers. Please read the following sites for basic information.http://www.coolcats.nethttp://www.google.com Quote Selected
