How to sell a cougar convertible

I have an ‘86 ls 5.0 cougar convertible. (car craft conversion).  My father purchased it new, and I last drove it in the early ‘00s. It’s been sitting my barn since then — as I recall it has 30-40K miles on it.  I’m contemplating a move, and may not be able to take the car with me due to space concerns.  What’s the best way to sell one of these cars since it’s a highly specialized group of collectors?  Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

Wow...awesome. That might be one of the lowest mileage convertibles left.

The easy answer would be eBay, as you'd get a nationwide audience. But you also get a lot of tire-kickers along with that. Same goes for Craigslist. You may run into issues where someone backs out of the sale, or wants you to ship the vehicle, etc. which can become spoogebersome.

You're always welcome to post here first. And there are several Facebook groups dedicated to these cars that would pretty much hit the target audience you desire.

But before all that...you'll need a lot of good photos of the car to push the sale. Engine, interior, the top, any rust, etc.
Also, there's a tag inside the driver's door from Car Craft with the conversion number and conversion date...if you would be so kind as to pass that info along, we'll add it to the database.

also,, get Eric the production number on the car,,, like its number 11 or 24 etc.

very few were made into this option,, under 70 i think.
this wont make it valuable,,, it just makes it ,, well,, desirable to perhaps maybe 100 people in the usa.

I live in PA and have been loosely hunting one for sometime.  I've come across four in the last year and half for sale.

Three of those were probably the one I bought, then sold, then the next owner reselling it again, lol.

It was a fun car, but I realized after owning it that I am far too pale to enjoy a convertible. I burned up so bad driving it around with the top down.

Ha! ... but I don't think so ... I actually have more than 4 now that I really think about it.

White one in Tennessee that I called on about a month late
Blue one in Oklahoma (ebay) and on this message board ... I tried on this one
Maroon one in Kansas on Craigslist
White one in Connecticut on the CCOA classifieds and newly appearing on Craigslist, low mileage ... it's there now ... I have reached out to this guy in the past, major shade on this one

... and now this one ... so 6 ... not too bad, a good percentage of the production run I suppose.  Highest asking price on any of them was $5,000.

I like to look for these and XR-7 5 speeds.

I sold mine cheap, I think I ended up getting maybe $1800 for it? I can't remember now. I can't believe that was 5 years ago! Here's the ad when I had it up:

It went cheap because it needed top work, and it had a dent in the quarter. Plus it was the less-than-desirable v6. It ran and drove perfectly though.
