Not sure what caused your failure on this occasion  but something to keep in mind is the water and coolant being used. Tap water or bottled drinking water is best or just get the 50/50 premix coolant. Doesn't hurt to do a coolant flush every 40-50,000 miles either. Keeping the coolant from getting overly corrosive or acidic may be the best mod you can do.

jcassity, what was the failure point on the old core? was it on the seams of the inlet/outlet pipes or somewhere else?

not extracted yet,,
just bpadded it a few days ago so it woulnt leak.

i warmed it up to make sure the loop back pipe i put in was ok but, my upper hose never got hard,,, betting my tstat s stuck open.

i looked down in the radiator and did not see water flowing which is a sign the tstat is stuck open.

i will let you all know where the break is when i put air pres on it and drop it in a bucket of water.

this was a NOS ford core... and to be honest, it did have over a hundred k on it so,, i digress.
