Exhaust Tips

hey everyone, i have an 87 cougar with bbk headers with a mac off road h pipe 2 1/2 with flowmaster 40's 2 1/4.  i have nothing after the lers sounds nice.  i want to put on 2 1/2 lers and have them come out infront of the rear tires.  kinda like a mustang side exhaust kit put not pay that kinda money.  and tips or ideas .

I would just route them out behind the rear tires, because of the way they would need bent to come out infront of the tires.

1. you would either need to move the lers realy far forward.
or
2. you would have a pipe that would make 3 90* bents to get it back out in front of the tires.

The mustangs have a special ler that has the inlet and outlet on the same end. Thats how they get the exhaust out infront of the tires.

i know that the lers are different and is there any kind you can but like that but still be loud as hell

Short glass pack right off the H pipe then 45* out to the side of the car.

Beware of the dreaded tire shop techs though. Most of them don't look at the exhaust and if it is sticking out past the pinch weld them may smash the shiznit out of it. Unless they use a post lift.

I worked in a tire shop I saw all kinds of stupid acts that could have been prevented just by doing a quick inspection.

You need a small ler like a glasspack or baffled tube/bullet ler.  Here's how mine looks.  FYI those are aftermarket Chevelle tips.
