EGR valve clean or replace May 06, 2017, 09:00:04 AM I tuned up my 86 Cougar 3.8L V-6 engine, it was lunging a bit at stops, I replaced the TPS, plugs, wires, rotor, dis cap, Map or Maf, and the electrical part of the EGR valve. The lunging or stumbling has quit and all in all the car is in great running shape, but I decided because I replaced the electrical part of the EGR I should have checked to see if the actual EGR needed cleaning, so my question is should I take it off and clean it, or just replace it? I have 95,000 miles on the car and the EGR is OE. Quote Selected
