Tell me what year it is................ Reply #2 – March 29, 2017, 06:31:11 PM Depends on what you consider to be a wireless remote control...My grandma had a "radio phone" with a two mile range from probably the late 60's. She used it until one of my uncle's bought her a modern 2.4ghz wireless setup a few years ago. She doesn't like it because it works like a cell phone, she has to flip it open to answer calls and its too small with a short range. Quote Selected
Tell me what year it is................ Reply #3 – March 29, 2017, 08:36:50 PM This may be before most imagine... First are were talking Stereo or just Hi-Fi??? I believe the first Stereo were around 1958 as that's approx when Stereo records came on the market(I believe Stereo tape was on market a few years prior)... Shortly after there were Stereos that used AM for one channel, FM for the other... FM stereo multiplex wasn't approved by FCC till early 1961, units with true FM stereo were on market fall of '61... So first HiFi wireless remote?? Philco's Mystery Control, on market in late 1930s... Quote Selected
Tell me what year it is................ Reply #4 – March 30, 2017, 11:04:06 AM Tom for the win~!!See linky,,Philco was also using a light beam source on a record player measuring the light , said light exciting the photo sensor and by way of millivolts or whatever small static voltage , this generated the tech using photo sensing to produce mechanical / electrical results.http://www.philcorepairbench.com/mystery/index.htmso, they were making this available in 39,, someone had to have an idea prior to that,, how long ago prior to it was this idea muddling in someones head?using remote controls for audio systems back then coupled with what we today would consider the fundamentals of fiber optics,, what were they thinking in the 1800's?why did they think it,, what was it so special about the 1889 worlds fair that caused a species to suddently after 10's of hundreds of years go from simplistic technology to putting objjects in space and wireless technology.this little mystery box did the job and had no wires and remotely changed the radio station. it would operate well within the distance limts of the average home,, and moreover multiple units that were not closer than 10ft could be placed if you had a larger home. Very Cool! Quote Selected

Tell me what year it is................ Reply #7 – March 31, 2017, 01:33:33 PM In the 60's I had a RCA TV that had remote. The remote had a little hammer that hit a tuning fork that made a audio note above the human hearing range. That started a motor in the TV that moved the TV tuner. There were some tabs you set in the TV to select which channels you wanted it to stop on. Quote Selected
