cheap diy home improvements - railing balusters

finally got around to finishing my exterior deck railing.

i struggled with what kind of baluster to use and the overall price point for each unit.

i finally settled on a fairly inexpensive solution using 1/2'' rebar.

i like it

pilot holes drilled and rebar inserted in each hole,, sealed with liquid nails

thought someone might like this idea and use it.

i was going to make "pop belly" rebar balusters then decided against it.  i kind of regret it now but its ok.
pop belly meaning the rebar would curve out along the outside of the deck

by the way,, bending 2x4 hardwood in a gentle curve is still a very hard thing to do and takes patience if you want that curved look on your wrap around porch.
