there is a guy in Milwaukee selling a red 79 Cougar sedan for only $500.

The 77-79 Cougar came in regular coupe, sedan, wagon (77 only), and XR7 coupe. They did it again for the 80-82, coupe and sedan for 81-82, wagon for 82-only, XR7 80-82.
The 77-79 was the Montego (Ford LTD II) replacement, the 81-82 was the Monarch (Ford Granada) replacement.
