It's high desert there and they didn't salt the roads until very recently. Instead, they used (and usually still use) the abundant volcanic cinder sand for traction. It was wrecked and repainted the same color red with an 83-84 front end and clearcoated over the red. It was probably rusted underneath the old paint already. Quote Selected

88 Bird Bend Oregon $400 Reply #8 – February 08, 2015, 12:54:50 AM If I could afford to get it here, (meaning, if the wife let me buy ANOTHER car) I would get it..ideally, I'd drive there with a friend, tools, and some parts, do what needed, and drive it home. Red though..ughh. And I'll never change the interior of another car again. Except for this ed Mustang...and I'm not wanting to get started on it, but it's almost a necessity, what with swapping the wiring over to 5.0 standards. Since the dash will be out, it'll get replaced with one of the gray dashes from the '89 or the '90 parts cars.The other dash will likely go into my '84, unless I can find a dash for it somewhere...cheap enough and perfect.
