Sequential Tail light install HELP! Why blowing fuses?

Hey guys, long time!

Anyway, I bought a $40 sequential taillight kit from eBay for 96-04 Mustangs, and it not working is why I am here today. Looking on search for help, I came across this, and maybe I shoulda bought that one instead:

But I didn't and I was wondering if anyone can help:

1. I already converted the inner tails to brake/signal lights, so I have a full 3+3 system.
2. Connected ground to the black wire in the trunk wiring harness
3. Hooked up the signal source (it's a different color from what you see at the socket) from the main brake/signal wire in the trunk wiring harness...I had a spare from a parts car to hack up, so I found it on my car, cut it and sure enough, it's the raw signal.
4. Cut the signal wire at each light, connected it to the sequencer module.
5. I only did the LH side, because of the problem:

The lights are dead.  No flashing, no nothing.  I thought I had a bad ground and found another black wire (or a different location for the same wire) and it didn't help.  Then it blew the fuse for the turn signals.

Bad module or bad wiring job?  I'm totally confused at this point. :toilet:

Did the kit come with the wiring diagram? Did you try wiring it back to original and checking it yet?
How fast is fast?

Hrmmm…without seeing the instructions, it sounds like you did it correctly. Maybe that module requires both sides to be hooked up before they all work. Either that or, like you said, it may be a bad module altogether.

Yes and yes...going back to original and the lights worked fine.

There must be something wrong with the module, since all the wires for each side are independent of each other. (except for the ground, I guess)

I'm still pretty miffed...I might buy a different brand of kit, just in case.
