Door ajar light stays on, but dome light is off.....

Hey guys.

On my '88 T-bird Sport, the "door ajar" light stays on, but the dome light goes off when the door is shut. I wouldn't think the pin-switch(es) would be bad if one work and the other doesn't.

Any ideas?

I sprayed some wd-40 into the pin-switches in the door jambs and worked the switches several times. I think that did the trick.

The door jamb switch is for the dome light.
The door ajar switches are on the door latches inside the doors.
If it comes back try spraying the WD-40 into the door latches.

Very, very, VERY common problem on later Fords, pretty much all cars have the switch attached to the latch nowadays.

Thanks for the advice. I bought new pin switches and the ajar light started working correctly. Funny thing is, they're still in the box!! I did hose down the latches really well, which I think did the trick.
