Hot Rod Kit......rare opportunity

I am pleased to offer to the discriminating buyer a chance not available since 1988. You can purchase a very nice example of the 1988 Ford T-Bird Sport, last of the solid axle Fox birds, the ultimate iteration of the platform (with apologies to Mustang owners). This car is a Mustang for Grownups. I purchased it new from Town East in Dallas with the intent of making a rear wheel drive Ford V-8 hotrod. Twenty six years later my priorities have changed and I am willing to let someone else have the pleasure. This is a well preserved and unmolested specimen of the genuine Sport model (roller block 5.0 w/forged pistons; no headers, no HO cam), 8.8" locking diff w/4 shock rear suspension, urethane bushings, larger sway bars, alum wheels, 6 way seats, etc. Car runs great, ready for a California trip. Medium sandalwood, some fading on hood and roof. Equipped with 140mph speedo, huge Hayden oil cooler, 3-G alt, mini starter, custom free-flow exhaust w/Flowmaster lers, adjustable fuel pressure regulator set 4.5% rich, better than OEM spkrs. & head unit. Deal includes all parts including emission controls and cats, EFI & drilled rotors from a Mustang HO, NIB 4-row brass radiator, NIB BBK 3" Y-pipe (fits shorty headers), complete set of shop manuals, all service records, sales brochures and window sticker. Lots more, too much to list. I have a price in mind, let's see if anybody wants this as bad as I did for the first twenty years. PMs will be answered ASAP.

Here are fresh shots of both. Sorry, Mrs. threw away the OEM floormats. Nothing of note on the interior except it is well preserved. Engine pic shows cast alum V Cvrs. Them and the HO plate are from a pile of Mustang parts left over when my shop built a customer kit car Cobra (say that fast four times). I also have the MAF-EFI and drilled brake rotors. The new 3G alternator is wired direct to the terminal on the mini starter, so trunk mounted battery is the easy next step. AC very cold, has 100% R-12 in it. The car is ready for the highway but I would rather drive my Expedition and pull the Airstream these days.

So I decided to take the car for a drive last week...battery was low. Not dead, radio memory and clock still set. Seems like a good quality battery always lasts about eight years. I charged it up, but it is on the way out. So now it is time to:  (1) replace the battery with another $100+ OEM type. or (2) go ahead and put a foil cell battery in a custom mount in the trunk, which requires engineering a safe way to run a hot cable through the middle of the car. or (3) stick the grp24 battery from the RV in. or (4) put this ad back at the top of the page and see if anyone wants the car for Christmas. I really don't care if I don't sell it, driving around with the stereo blasting and peeling out just for fun at the stoplights reminded me how much fun this car still is. Maybe I'll drive out to Vegas and see my bro., never have made the California trip I bought the car for. Out in the Mojave desert I could find out just what I have, the upper reaches of the 140mph speedo have yet to be explored. Antique tags don't expire and insurance is cheap, so it can just sit in the barn if I don't sell it. In case anyone is curious, $2500 for car, manuals and all parts. LOTS of parts.

This thread is old but the price is new. This car needs a new home and I need room in my barn.

, if you weren't so far away, I might have to consider this. But Arkansas is far.

Far is a relative word. The car holds 22 gallons of fuel and makes 30mpg @ 80mph. 660 miles on a tank of gas will get you there. All the parts will fit in the trunk. Bring cash and drive home...

Nope, it's still in the barn. Insurance co. wants $105 for another 6 mos. Would you like a $105 discount?
