Power antenna switch wont lower antenna...

My power antenna seems to work fine when raising the antenna but wont lower it. Is this a bad swtich or is the antenna motor to blame ? I don't want to burn out the motor buy manually lowering it, so I leave it down for now.

Thanks for any info... :)

I've had that problem before. I just used WD40 to lube the hell out of the antenna itself, pushed it down, used the switch to raise it, and repeated the process a few times. After that it worked fine.

You hear the motor running when you go down with the antenna?

There is about a 24 inch or 20 inch long plastic ripcord inside the assembly that runs against a gear

I also think it has to do with power delivery because half of the circuit is operational

No I don't hear anything....only when it goes "up". I think the switch may be bad because if it was the antenna, would it even go up or move at all ?

siri sucks,, and i corrected my above spelling.

if you dont hear anything when selecting down then the fault is power delivery.  ,,, not to say its "certainly" the switch because the wiring / connections are in play also.

bad part is to get to it the fender well plastic skirt needs to come off which isnt all that fun.

Not that I'm a fan of power antennas, I can't stand them, but I like when they are at the rear of the car, so much easier to get at the parts inside the trunk.

If you are sure the motor is not running, It has to be the switch.
Going up uses all the same wiring and connectors as going down.

Yeah but the windshield is bigger and so is the hood and it helps collect a lot of frequencies that would bounce
