Faulty Oil Gauge/Signal in '87 Cougar December 28, 2013, 01:41:48 PM I've got the oil light on my dash that has an intermittent signal that sets an alarm off implying that my oil level or oil pressure is low. That being said I've checked both and determined it is a false alarm....what needs to be done to correct this warning light/alarm from going off? Quote Selected
Faulty Oil Gauge/Signal in '87 Cougar Reply #1 – December 28, 2013, 07:14:23 PM If you are sure it's a false alarm, replace the oil pressure sending unit. If it's beeping while you are sitting at a stop light with the brakes on, it probably is indicating low oil pressure. Common with older engines. Quote Selected

The chime is supposed to come on at or below 7 PSI. I can tell you from personal experience that mine will chime at around 20 PSI. Always has. Here's what I did: http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?26435-NO-MORE-OIL-CHIME!!!!!one!!!!&highlight= Quote Selected
