2 piece crank Reply #3 – December 16, 2013, 10:52:24 AM If you mean for a two piece seal, AFAIK they are same... What changed at approx same time as switching to one piece seal was the engine balance... Originally there was more meat in the 302/5.0 cranks so required a 28 oz flex & harmonic ballancer vs the later 5.0 of 50 oz... From '82-up all are 50 oz one piece seal, from '80-back are two piece and 28 oz... 1981?? Well that is anyone's guess, but I believe they are two piece and 50 oz... Quote Selected

If you drop a late crank in a early engine with 28 oz balance components you'll be in trouble as it will vibrate badly... Quote Selected

No I'm not a scrooge but I found if you donate to charity "A", the remainder of the alphabet will be calling wanting same...My bird is still exactly same cond as last April with no engine... I've been working on the '72 Comet, maybe once it's movable under it's own power again I'll get back to the Bird... Also with the train wreck this place had became and management setting on their ass, I'd had it, had to get away for awhile... I'll check in from time to time on a few of the forums but now mostly graze in greener pastures... BTWI see it took some of the forum members to correct the situation and they have my most hearty congratulations... Quote Selected
